摘要： The subject invention provides a drug delivery device for injecting medicament which includes: a tubular reservoir; a stopper slidably disposed in the reservoir; a spring for moving the stopper in the reservoir; at least one needle, the needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a lumen extending proximally from the distal end, the lumen being in direct or indirect communication with the reservoir; a needle driver for displacing the needle; and, an actuator. Activation of the actuator causes the spring to move the stopper and the needle driver to displace the needle. The needle moves relative to, and separately from, the reservoir with the needle being displaced. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug delivery device is provided wherein a needle is moved, relative to the reservoir, in being displaced for injection. This permits control of the needle displacement separate from the reservoir.

摘要： A medical injector is provided herein having a body and a reservoir disposed in the body, the reservoir including at least first and second mixable components. At least one stopper is associated with the reservoir where distal advancement of the stopper over a predetermined distance causes mixing of the mixable components. A plunger is disposed in the body, along with a knob stem and a knob fixed to the knob stem so as to be rotatable therewith. A sleeve is telescopingly disposed over the knob stem, wherein the knob stem and the sleeve have cooperating elements formed thereon which selectively permit rotation of the knob stem to be transmitted to the sleeve so that the knob stem and the sleeve may rotate together. A spring is also provided for urging the sleeve distally. A releasable retainer releasably retains the sleeve against force of the spring. Rotation of the knob releases the sleeve and allows the spring to displace the sleeve distally. Distal movement of the sleeve causes distal movement of the plunger which causes distal movement of the stopper thus causing mixing of the mixable components. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a medical injector may be provided where autoreconstitution can be achieved by the turning of a knob.

摘要： With the subject invention, a container for an injection device with an injection needle is provided. The container includes a body having a compartment formed therein to accommodate the injection device in both a pre-use and a post-use condition. The body defines a first opening through which the injection device in its pre-use condition may be accessed, and the body defines a second opening into which the injection device may be directed in its post-use condition. A closure is provided for closing the first opening. The container also includes a retainer proximate the second opening for retaining the injection device in the container in its post-use condition preventing access to the injection needle after the injection device has been used to administer an injection. Advantageously, the container of the subject invention may accommodate an injection device both before and after use thereby providing not only a pre-use packaging for the injection device, but also a post-use sharps container for the injection device.

摘要： In one aspect, a fixturing member for fixing a source of flowable material relative to a pen injector so as to permit introduction of the flowable material into the pen injector is provided herein. The fixturing member includes a body having a web with opposing proximal and distal faces. A distal wall extends distally from the distal face of the web, with the distal wall at least partially encompassing a distal chamber. Features are formed on the body for removable mounting onto a pen injector. Also, features are formed on the body for mounting onto a source of flowable material, A cannula extends through the web the cannula having proximal and distal ends with a lumen extending therebetween. The distal end of the cannula is located in the distal chamber and positioned such that, with the member being mounted to a pen injector, the distal end is located to be in the pen injector. The proximal end of the cannula is located proximally of the proximally face of the web such that, with the member being mounted to a source of flowable material, the proximal end of the cannula is located to be in communication with the flowable material. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a fixturing member is provided which facilitates mixing of substances in a pen injector in preparing a pen injector for injection.

摘要： A medical injector is provided herein which includes first and second body portions rotatably coupled together; a displaceable plunger disposed in at least one of the first and second body portions; a spring disposed to advance the plunger; and, a releasable retainer for retaining the plunger in a first portion against force of the spring. The releasable retainer releases the plunger upon a predetermined extent of relative rotation between the first and second body portions, thus allowing the spring to advance the plunger. Advantageously, the subject invention provides a medical injector having an automated plunger drive which is triggered upon rotation of injector body portions, thereby minimizing premature or failed activations.

摘要： A medical injector is provided herein having a body; a reservoir containing first and second mixable components, a stopper associated with the reservoir, a predetermined extent of advancement of the stopper causing mixing of the first and second mixable components; a displaceable plunger disposed in the body; a spring disposed to advance the plunger; a first releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a first state against force of the spring; a first trigger for causing the first releasable retainer to release the plunger; a second releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a second state against force of the spring; and, a second trigger for causing the second releasable retainer to release the plunger. The spring causes the plunger to advance from the first state to the second state. The plunger engages the stopper during the advancement from the first state to the second state so that the stopper traverses at least the predetermined extent of advancement thereby causing mixing of the first and second mixable components. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a medical injector is provided which allows for autoreconstitution with subsequent dose setting and autoplunger activation, the autoreconstitution and the autoplunger activations being activated by separate triggers.

摘要： A filling system for syringes utilizing short needles to be filled from a vial having a thick septum is described. The system may be useful in any situation where the septum or vial stopper of a medication container is thicker than the usable length of the needle on the delivery device. Preferably, the syringe is filled just prior to use. The short needle includes an optional limiter which only permits a certain predetermined length of the needle cannula to protrude beyond the limiter a distance which limits penetration of the needle tip into both the skin and a vial stopper. The system and adapter may be useful for needles having a protrusion distance from approximately 0.5 mm to 3 mm, or any needle with a protrusion length shorter that the thickness of a septum to be accessed. Furthermore, a device is provided with shielding capabilities to shield the needle of the device.

The shield system includes a syringe holder and a shield which is slidably coupled to the holder. A spring resiliently urges the shield from a retracted position to an extended position. Axial movement of the syringe with respect to the holder causes disengagement of the stop members, allowing the spring to move the shield to the extended position. Detents are provided on the holder for maintaining the shield in the extended position.
