    • In one example, a magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) system comprises a magnetic resonance imaging assembly defining a gap region, a transmitting coil proximate the gap region, and at least one test coil separate from the transmitting coil. The at least one coil is mechanically coupled to the assembly during imaging and the at least one test coil is selectively electrically coupled to the assembly to collect test data. The at least one coil may be coupled to a test fixture coupled to the assembly. The test fixture may be deployable from a first position to a second position for collection of test data. The at least one coil may comprise a first test coil and a second test coil. Methods are also disclosed.

    • A test fixture for testing and monitoring electromagnetic characteristics of a magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) system preferably comprises a body portion having a first longitudinal axis and a first coil supported by the body portion. A longitudinal member is preferably connected to the body portion. A second coil is supported by the longitudinal member. The longitudinal member has a second longitudinal axis transverse to the first longitudinal axis. A container for containing a test substance is supported by the longitudinal member within the second coil. The second coil is preferably a transceiver and the test substance is a material capable of emitting a magnetic resonance signal. The longitudinal member is preferably pivotally connected to the body portion and the body portion is preferably telescoping so that the test fixture may be stored in a compact position. Preferably, the test fixture is stored in the gap region in an MRI system. For example, the fixture may be stored in a chamber in a transmitting coil plate attached to a pole of an open MRI system.

    • Method and apparatus for providing inserts, such as lift inserts and step inserts, in cast members. The inserts have breakaway tabs mounted in receiving slots in either a reusable holder or disk-shaped member. The assembled insert and holder are inserted through a collar on the outer jacket of a mold assembly and a locking pin passes through cooperating openings in the holder and collar to retain the lift insert/holder in place during the casting operation. The disk-shaped member is fixed to a jacket of the mold assembly. The breakaway tabs break away from the insert when the cast member is separated from the mold assembly, the breakaway tabs being discarded and the holder (disk-shaped member) being reusable many times for subsequent casting operations. The slots, in one embodiment, have a locking shoulder to lock the tabs in their slots. In another embodiment, a cam surface on the tabs lock the tabs in the slots. In another embodiment, one slot and one tab differ in radial or circumferential length from the other tabs and slots to permit alignment between the slots and tabs in only one position to assure that the tabs are properly mounted in the holder.

    • A node comprises at least one agent and an input/output (I/O) circuit coupled to an interconnect within the node. The I/O circuit is configured to communicate on a global interconnect to which one or more other nodes are coupled during use. Addresses transmitted on the interconnect are in a first local address space of the node, and addresses transmitted on the global interconnect are in a global address space. The first local address space includes at least a first region used to address at least a first resource of the node. The node is programmable, during use, to relocate the first region within the first local address space, whereby a same numerical value in the first local address space and a second local address space corresponding to one of the other nodes coupled to the global interconnect refers to the first resource in the node during use.

    • Method and apparatus for forming cast members having curved or flat walls. Steps are provided in the cast member by placing hollow plastic step inserts into holders provided along the inner core of a mold assembly or mounting inserts on reciprocating pins or mounting inserts to a marginal portion of the inner core. The cast material is then poured into the mold. The cast member, when set, is withdrawn from the mold assembly. In one embodiment, a holder portion of the step insert is broken away, leaving the step inserts embedded in the cast member to receive legs of manhole steps. The inserts are provided with flanges, preventing leakage of the cast material into the mold assembly. Similar seals are provided by other types of cylindrical-shaped inserts for use in wetcast and drycast fabrication methods. Mounting assemblies are also provided for holding inserts for embedment in planar walls.
