    • A periodic process timer is incorporated into a multi-tasking operating system of an automatic call distributor system. The process timing method includes the steps of: a) initializing a plurality of accumulator values corresponding to a single process of a plurality of processes, each accumulator value defined to represent a total processing time for each process; b) recording a starting value of a counter device; c) activating the counter device prior to execution of a selected process; d) permitting the selected process to execute; e) stopping the counter device after execution of the selected process; f) reading and ending value of the counter device; g) determining a difference value between the starting value and the ending value in the counter device; h) adding the difference value of the counter device to the accumulator value corresponding to the selected process; i) continuously repeating steps (b) through (h) until a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, to obtain a total accumulator value representing the total processing time for each selected process; and j) saving the accumulator values for each selected process.

    • A process for producing a component from a steel product coated with a protective Al—Si coating, and an intermediate product that arises during the course of such a process and that can be used to produce components of the type concerned here. The steel product coated with the Al—Si coating, undergoes a first heating stage in which the temperature and the duration of the heat treatment are set such that the Al—Si coating is only partially pre-alloyed with Fe from the steel product. Then, the steel product, in a second heating stage, is heated to a heating temperature, above the Ac1 temperature, at which the steel product has an at least partially austenitic structure, wherein the temperature and the duration of the second heating stage are set such that the Al—Si coating is fully alloyed with Fe from the steel product. After the steel product is heated to the heating temperature, it is shaped to form the component and the component obtained is cooled in a controlled manner, in order to obtain a martensitic structure.

    • A programmable device carries an on-device file. An interface device is provided to interface with the programmable device, the interface device having an off-device file. Web (Internet) standard language operating software is stored in the programmable device in a compressed format, that software containing at least some of the file system and commands for accessing the file system which enable the on-device file and off-device file to interface with each other. The interface device further includes an upgrade file. The system operates to compare the upgrade file to the on-device file and upgrade the on-device file to the newer upgrade file. The system is further provided with a web (Internet) standard language file containing a configurable Security Environment. The system is further provided with a file including a data model (‘virtual card’) corresponding to a programmable device and adapted for downloading to the programmable device.

    • In an ITSO scheme, construction and initial sealing of ITSO Product Entities (IPEs) is carried out by one of a plurality of ITSO Secure Application Modules (‘ISAMs’) at a location remote from ticket retailer devices at which the IPE fields are generated. Each ticket retailer device is connected to an ISAM over the Internet or other network by control means operable to select an available ISAM from an ISAM array for the duration of a sealing transaction initiated by that ticket retailer device. Validation of IPEs can also be carried out at a remote ISAM array accessed over the Internet or other network. The remote ISAM array can be used in a variety of ITSO applications, for example, transportation ticket sales or secure systems for the prescription of drugs. In the latter scheme, prescription information is presented by the prescription writer for sealing in the form of an IPE and the patient can later validate the prescription IPE at a pharmacy or other supplier. Such a scheme can be used to reduce prescription fraud significantly because of the security inherent in the ITSO scheme.
