摘要： The invention concerns photochromic compounds with general formula (I): ##STR1## where R.sup.a, R.sup.b and R.sup.c represent hydrogen; alkyl, aryl, OR, SR, COR or COOR, where R represents hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, amino with formula NR.sub.1 R.sub.2, where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may together form a heterocycle containing four to seven members with the nitrogen atom and may intracyclically contain one or more heteroatoms selected from nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur, or a halogen atom; a mono- or polyhaloalkyl; an NO.sub.2, CN or SCN group; n and m represent whole numbers from 1 to 4 depending on the number of substitutions on the nucleus and p is 1 or 2 depending on the number of substitutions on the nucleus; H is either an aromatic heterocycle condensed at the 5,6 or 6,7 positions, containing five or six members comprising one or more heteroatoms selected from nitrogen, selenium, oxygen and sulphur or an aromatic carbocycle containing five or six members, condensed at the 7,8 positions; all optionally substituted. The invention also relates to the use of these compounds in ophthalmic optics.

摘要： A thermosetting coating composition is provided, which composition is based upon (A) an activated unsaturated group-containing compound, (B) an activated CH group-containing compound and (C) a strong basic catalyst, wherein the strong basic catalyst is blocked with a [particular] carboxylic acid which is volatile and/or undergoes decarboxylation under curing conditions. 摘要： When a phenol having substituents in at least the 2- and 4-positions but having a hydrogen atom in the 6-position, or a phenol having substituents in at least the 2- and 6-positions but having a hydrogen atom in the 4-position is reacted with formaldehyde and 1,3-propanediamine, a unique insertion-condensation reaction occurs whereby the product is a hexahydropyrimidine derivative which may be represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is (i) a 2-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (ii) a 4-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions; and R.sub.2 is (i) a 2-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (ii) a 4-hydroxybenzyl group having an inert substituent (preferably a hydrocarbyl substituent) in at least the 3- and 5-positions or (iii) a hydrogen atom. Uses for such compounds include their use as antioxidants and stabilizers for various substrates, such as fuels, lubricants, and functional fluids.

摘要： It now has been found that uncured modified rubber compositions comprising mixtures of elastomers and a reinforcing filler can be prepared having improved properties. More particularly, such uncured modified rubber compositions can be prepared by a process which comprises the steps of(A) preparing a first mixture comprising an elastomer, at least one reinforcing filler and at least one chemical agent capable of promoting the formation of filler-elastomer linkages;(B) preparing a second mixture comprising(i) an elastomer, at least one reinforcing filler and at least one chemical agent capable of promoting the formation of filler-elastomer linkages, wherein at least one of the elastomer, filler or chemical agent in the second mixture is different from the elastomer, filler or chemical agent in the first mixture; or(ii) an elastomer and at least one reinforcing filler; or(iii) at least one reinforcing filler and at least one chemical agent capable of promoting the formation of filler-elastomer linkages; or(iv) an elastomer and at least one chemical agent capable of promoting the formation of filler-elastomer linkages; and(C) blending the first and second mixtures to form a third mixture. Examples of such useful chemical agents include aromatic furazan oxides, heterocyclic di-N-oxides, 1-hydroxy-benzimidazole-3-oxide compounds, 1,3-dihydroxy-benzimidazolinone compounds, and aromatic nitroso compounds.The invention also includes filled vulcanizates prepared by vulcanizing the uncured modified rubber compositions prepared in accordance with the above method. Rubber articles and portions thereof made from such vulcanizates such as tires, hoses, belts, treads, sidewalls and the like are also within the scope of the present invention as well as methods of reducing the rolling resistance of tires.
