    • A material layering device may include a first pinning roller and a second pinning roller. A distance between the first pinning roller and the second pinning roller is less than a diameter of a substrate. The device also includes a return system, wherein the return system comprises a plurality of rollers. The device also includes a belt, which may have a first loop portion disposed between and protruding beyond the first pinning roller and the second pinning roller. The first loop portion also wraps about an intended substrate along an arc greater than about 180 degrees. The device further includes a feed portion coupled to the first loop and extending outwardly from the second pinning roller opposite the first loop and providing a surface upon which a sheet can be placed. Furthermore, the device also includes an adjustment mechanism coupled to one of the rollers.

    • A baler for making large cylindrical bales is equipped with a device for controlling the placement of a bale after it is discharged. The bale control device is coupled to fixed forward side wall sections of the baling chamber and is selectively operated such that front and rear bale control members of the device are respectively located behind and forward of a space into which a completed bale may be discharged. Thereafter, the bale control members are moved to the rear in to a location wherein the front bale control member holds the discharged bale to the rear of a path traced by the discharge gate when it swings between a raised discharge position and a lowered baling position. The rear bale control member engages a discharged bale so as to halt the rolling inertia imparted to the bale during discharge, the front and rear bale control members thus cooperating for locating the bale at rest. Once the bale is at rest, the rear bale control member is moved to a bale-clearing position wherein the rear bale control member may move forwardly relative to the bale without coming into contact with the bale.

    • Mid-size balers and methods for compressing material into bales are disclosed. An exemplary baler (10) comprises a cylindrical baling chamber (24) configured to receive the material. The baling chamber is formed by a pair of circular, disk-shaped end plates (26) limiting opposite end faces of the baling chamber. The baling chamber is further formed by an axial motion actuator operatively associated with at least one of the end plates. The axial motion actuator including at least one piston providing an axial force to position the at least one of the end plates and react to forces of the bales (215) against the at least one of the end plates during operation. The baling chamber is further formed by a driven endless belt (12) guided by a plurality of rollers (20, 30, 32, 34, 42). The endless belt extends around the outer, circular perimeter of the end plates, forming a cylindrical periphery of the baling chamber.
