    • The present invention provides methods for moving a tooth to a desired position within a patient's mouth using orthodontics including perforating tissue in the oral cavity sufficient to induce an inflammatory response. The perforations may be made in any area of the maxilla or mandible, and any number of perforations may be made that are preferably 0.5 to 1.5 mm diameter, and preferably 1 to 3 mm deep. The invention also provides a device that may be used in conjunction with slow-speed rotary instruments or with manual drivers for providing the perforations. The device has a drill that makes the perforations and a stop that prevents the drill from penetrating the jaw bone beyond a predetermined depth. The invention also provides a kit that supplies the professional with the necessary components in a sealed container to carry out the osteoperforations. The kit may include hand held and rotatory perforating devices, anesthetic, and a soft tissue punch.

The apparatus comprises a housing (1) which an electronic device for regulating and controlling the DC power supply, and two electrodes of which one (2) is a patient-held member for gripping the housing while the other is any scaling instrument (15) used by the practitioner. The enamel of the teeth may be scaled with the instrument and the operation may be performed with full or partial desensitization. Another use of the apparatus relates to paradontic curetting.

    • A dental apparatus for applying fluid to the teeth and gums includes as one of its principle components a U-shaped flexible, rubber-like tray having side walls and a bottom wall which define a channel into which the teeth and gums can extend. Attached to the inside perimeter of the side walls near the upper edge of the tray is a flexible, elastic tube. One end of the elastic tube is sealed. The other end of the elastic tube extends through the side wall at the front of the tray and is open for connection to a source of pressurized fluid for inflating the elastic tube. Attached to the bottom wall and communicating with the channel are conduit tubes. A method using the above apparatus to apply a fluid, such as an anesthetic, to the teeth and gums is also disclosed.
