    • A wireless receiver receives a signal obtained by multiplexing a plurality of signals that include a synchronization signal that is spread using a non-orthogonal code not orthogonal to a code for spreading other signals other than the synchronization signal. Then, in a case when the signals other than the synchronization signal are the target signals for decoding, the wireless receiver performs despreading with respect to the received signal using the synchronization signal and estimates the signal amplitude of the non-orthogonal code. Subsequently, the wireless receiver eliminates the spread synchronization signal from the received signal using the estimated signal amplitude of the non-orthogonal code and using the synchronization signal. Eventually, the wireless receiver performs despreading and demodulation with respect to the signal having the spread synchronization signal eliminated therefrom and decodes the target signals for decoding.

    • Detecting a symbol of interest comprises despreading a received signal to obtain despread values corresponding to the symbol of interest and to one or more interfering symbols, combining the despread values to generate combined values for the symbol of interest and the interfering symbols, computing spreading waveform correlations between the spreading waveform for the symbol of interest and the spreading waveforms for the interfering symbols, computing interference rejection terms representing the interference present in the combined value for the symbol of interest attributable to the interfering symbols based on the spreading waveform correlations, and generating an estimate of the symbol of interest by combining the combined values with the interference rejection terms. The interference rejection terms are computed by scaling the spreading waveform correlations by corresponding signal powers and compensating the estimates for noise. This provides a robust interference model that avoids numerical problems associated with conventional joint detection.

    • The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for eliminating frequency-domain interference signals, and relates to communication technologies. The method includes: multiplying a frequency-domain channel estimation value by a frequency-domain interference signal to obtain a frequency-domain received interference signal; and subtracting the frequency-domain received interference signal from the frequency-domain received signal to obtain the frequency-domain received signal free of interference. The apparatus includes a multiplying module and a subtracting module. A frequency-domain equalizer includes an interference signal obtaining module and an interference signal eliminating module. The technical solution provided herein eliminates interference signals in the frequency domain, and saves the calculation load in contrast with elimination of time-domain interference signals.

    • The present invention is directed to the selective provision of interference canceled signal streams to demodulating fingers in a communication receiver. According to the present invention, potential interferer signal paths are identified. Signal streams having one or more potential interferer signals removed or canceled are created, and a correlation is performed to determine whether the strength of a desired signal path increased as a result. If the correlation indicates that the strength of a desired signal path was increased by the signal cancellation, the interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger assigned to track the desired signal path. If the correlation determines that the strength of the desired signal path did not increase as a result of performing interference cancellation, the raw or a different interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger.

    • A method for removing selected signals from a received signal prior to decoding begins by receiving communication signals from a transmitter over a CDMA air interface. The received communication signals are input to a traffic signal cancellation system for canceling unwanted traffic signals, thereby producing an output (O). The received communication signals are input to a pilot signal cancellation system for removing a global pilot signal, thereby producing an output (Oadd). The output (Oadd) of the pilot signal cancellation system is subtracted from the output (O) of the traffic signal cancellation system to provide a cancellation system output.
