    • The present invention relates to applying an existing carbon nanotube X-ray tube for a dental X-ray imaging system that can replace a carbon nanotube electron emission source installed in a cathode portion. An X-ray tube system formed in a pen according to the present invention can be inserted in the oral cavity due to its thin thickness, thereby displaying an accurate image of an inner location of the oral cavity needing a diagnosis. For therapy of oral cancer requiring an appropriate amount of radiation therapy, since radiation can be directly irradiated to a diseased part, brachytherapy is enabled without concern of exposure dose of normal tissues. Therefore, when the system is commercialized, a great amount of distribution effect may be expected. The X-ray tube system that can be used for medical services such as a dental service includes an X-ray emission module emitting X-rays using a chipped nano-structured material, for example, carbon nanotube. The X-ray emission module is separable from a body in order to replace a cathode portion that is included in the X-ray emission module and is based on the nano-structured material.

    • In a miniature x-ray tube, which may be on the order of approximately 1 mm in diameter or even less, a high voltage cable is provided in various embodiments for conducting current to the cathode of the x-ray tube and for conducting high voltage to the cathode and anode of the tube. In various embodiments of the cable, two conductors occupy a center region of the cable, packed as closely together as possible, in various shapes that are compact and present as smooth as possible an external shape for maximizing dielectric properties against the exterior high voltage ground, surrounding and generally concentric with the inner conductors. The inner conductors, which carry high voltage in opposition to the outer ground, can be in opposed D shapes, coaxial, two flattened conductors side by side, or simply a pair of cylindrical wires positioned as closely as possible. The space between the inner conductors and the outer ground can be occupied by a glass insulator, polymer, successive layers of polymers and adhesive, air, gas, vacuum or other dielectrics. A partially conductive region can surround the inner conductors.

    • The invention relates to a miniature X-ray source device connected to a distal end of a guiding wire for insertion towards a desired location within an animal body for effecting radiation therapy, said X-ray source device at least comprising a vacuum tube accommodated in said housing containing a cathode and an anode spaced apart at some distance from each other; electron freeing means for freeing electrons from the cathode; electric field means for applying during use a high-voltage electric field between said cathode and said anode for accelerating said free electrons; said vacuum tube being at least partly transparent to X-ray radiation emitted by said anode, as well as cooling means for cooling at least said anode. It is an object to provide a miniature X-ray source device having further limited constructional dimensions and an improved control of the working temperature of at least the anode and hence the working conditions of the miniature X-ray source device. According to the invention the miniature X-ray source device is hereto characterised in that said cooling means are cryogenic cooling means. More in particular in a specific embodiment of said miniature X-ray source device said cooling means comprise at least one supply passageway for supplying pressurized gas towards said anode and at least one exhaust passageway for exhausting said pressurized gas from said anode, said supply passageway and said exhaust passageway being interconnected by means of an expansion chamber surrounding at least partly said anode.
