    • A function-monitored guidance system for adjusting at least one system component, the guidance system including a guiding mechanism having at least one adjustment component for guiding adjustment movements of the system component to be adjusted, of which at least one adjustment component includes a sensor device for detecting a load state of the adjustment component, and a monitoring device connected functionally to the adjustment component. The monitoring device provides detection time periods for detecting sensor signals of the at least sensor device, provides a threshold value, with which the number of overshoots thereof by the sensor signals within detection time periods is determined, and determines, from the number of overshoots in each case within the detection time periods, a value for the operating state. A method for monitoring the function of a guidance system for adjusting at least one system component is also disclosed.

    • An engine control system comprises a signal deviation module, a variation determination module, and a sensor diagnostic module. The signal deviation module receives a signal from a sensor monitoring an operating condition of an engine and determines a plurality of signal deviations. Each of the plurality of signal deviations is based on a magnitude of a difference between the signal at a first time and the signal at a second time. The second time is different than the first time. The variation determination module generates a variation value based on the plurality of signal deviations during a period. The sensor diagnostic module determines a state of the sensor based on the variation value.

    • The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining which one or more time series parameters of a plurality of time series parameters relating to operation of a system are correlated with a first operation state of the system. According to the invention, the method comprises providing time series data including data relating to a time series of each of the plurality of time series parameters; determining at least two first time periods, wherein the system is in the first operation state during the at least two first time periods; determining at least one second time period, wherein the system is in a second operation state during the at least one second time period; determining, for each respective time series parameter of the plurality of time series parameters, a first characteristic parameter relating to a first characteristic of the time series of the respective time series parameter for each of the at least two first time periods and the at least one second time period; and determining which one or more time series parameters of the plurality of time series parameters relating to the operation of the system are correlated with the first operation state of the system by determining, for each respective time series parameter of the plurality of time series parameters, whether or not the respective time series parameter is correlated with the first operation state of the system based on the first characteristic parameters of the respective time series parameter determined for each of the at least two first time periods and the at least one second time period.
