    • An apparatus for enhancing a chewing gum experience is provided and includes a first container body, a second container body and a gum holding ring having an upstanding member for receiving and holding a piece of chewed gum. The first container body is releasably coupled to a first section of the gum holding ring, with the first container body defining a first compartment. The second container body is releasably coupled to a second section of the gum holding ring, with the second container body defining a second compartment for storing a plurality of candy pieces. The gum holding ring has openings formed therethrough to permit communication between the first and second compartments and the member extends into the first compartment such that the held piece of chewed gum is disposed in the first compartment, and upon manipulation of the apparatus, the candy pieces in the second compartment travel through the openings and into contact with the chewed gum resulting in the chewed gum being coated with candy pieces that serve to enhance the flavor of the chewed gum as well as adding a crunchy texture thereto.

    • A continuous coating process for chewing gum and bubble gum materials. Small cores or pieces of gum material are introduced into inclined rotating drums in which heated air is circulated and a coating solution is applied (liquid or powder). The coating material is dried on the pieces of material, and a plurality of thin layers are formed on each of the cores or small pieces of material. A series of rotating drums can be provided to provide the requisite number or thickness of coating layers. In an alternate embodiment, initial coatings of material can be provided on the cores by a batch-type process before the materials are introduced into the continuous coating drums. The formulas for the coating solution can also be adjusted at different stages of the coating process in order to provide a more consistent and uniform coating.

    • Disclosed is a method for continuously coating cores by means of a dragée-making apparatus (15) comprising at least one rotatably driven drum (1) in which the product (5) is coated with one or several coating materials or is subjected to other treatment processes, such as spraying, drying. In order to be able to individually treat several small charges within a very limited space and with little effort regarding machines, the charge of the product that is to be processed is divided into small individual charges at the inlet end of the drum, is conveyed through the drum in a clocked manner, and is treated in individual treatment chambers (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) in the drum, which are separated from each other. The longitudinal conveyor (3) that conveys the individual charges through the drum embodies the individual treatment chambers in connection with the inner wall of the drum.
