    • A packaging wrap is provided for meat products, in particular for boiled ham or pickled products, wherein the packaging wrap is insoluble in water, suitable for a cooking process, and comprises a foil that is permeable to gas, steam and/or smoke. Against the side of the foil facing away from the meat product, a net can be placed to increase its strength. The foil comprises a thin-walled fibrous foil having a maximum area weight of about 120 g/m2 and an anti-adhesive coating on its side facing away from the meat product. The anti-adhesive coating is made of a material that is safe in accordance with food packaging regulations and prevents the meat product from binding with the packaging wrap during the cooking process. A color may be transferred to the meat by applying the color to the anti-adhesive coating via an intermediate coupling or bonding agent.

    • The food preparation kitchen of the present invention provides an arrangement and method of use of kitchen equipment to facilitate a combination of batch preparation and made-to-order assembly of fast-food sandwiches. This food preparation kitchen includes a broiling member for broiling frozen sandwich products; a first product holding member for holding sandwich products from the broiling means; a receiving container for holding sandwich products wherein the receiving container is operationally compatible with the broiling member and the first product holding member; a toasting member for toasting baked goods such as sandwich buns; a second product holding member for holding toasted baked goods from the toasting member; an assembly board for assembling fast-food sandwiches from products taken from the first and second holding members; a steam generating assembly for increasing the temperature of products removed from the first or second holding members; and a heat staging member for maintaining sandwiches assembled at the assembly board at elevated temperatures. In the method of use of the invention, batch preparation of the sandwich products is utilized in the broiling, toasting, and first and second holding steps. Made-to-order preparation is utilized at the assembly board by taking the necessary ingredients from the first and second holding members.

The thermoplastic resin is preferably a polyamide resin. The mixing ratio of the polyamide resin to polyvinylpyrrolidone is preferably 50 to 99:50 to 1 by weight, and more preferably 80 to 99:20 to 1 by weight.

    • A method of depositing a slug of striped food material comprises sucking a plurality of independent flows of different viscous fluid food (different in colour and/or composition) material into a cylinder (7) of a depositor assembly through respective circumferentially-spaced inlets (16) to the cylinder, preventing reverse flow through said inlets, and then urging the resulting charge of material in the cylinder out of the cylinder through a common outlet (9) so as to extrude the charge into a slug. A plurality of supply passages (11, 12, 13, 14) for the different viscous fluid food material connects respective reservoirs (2, 3, 4, 5) for the food materials to the respective cylinder inlet ports (16), a piston (15) being reciprocable in the cylinder, and piston drive means reciprocating the piston. An outlet valve (10null) controls flow through the outlet port (9), and inlet valve means (15null) controls flow through the inlet ports. The outlet valve can be a one-way valve (10null), and the inlet valve means can be constituted by an edge (15null) on the piston (15) which is so arranged as to uncover the inlet ports (16) as the piston approaches a fully retracted position. Some blending of the adjacent streams where they contact one another in the cylinder can produce intermediate stripes of material in the deposited slug.
