    • An exposure control system for a photographic camera of the type provided with a shutter preselection automatic exposure range and a diaphragm preselection automatic exposure range, wherein various exposure control parameters are digitized and applied to a digital computer for providing either shutter interval or diaphragm aperture control signals. For exposure control in the shutter preselection automatic exposure range, there are provided a signal generator associated with the camera diaphragm mechanism, an analog-to-digital converter cooperative therewith for providing digital signals corresponding to ever varying aperture sizes as the diaphragm mechanism is operated from its fully open position, and a comparator connected between said computer and converter upon detection of coincidence of the signal from the computer with one of the signals from the converter to provide a diaphragm mechanism arresting signal. Further, the invention provides various types of non-contact device usuable as the diaphragm information generator.

    • A camera having an exposure control device in which various photographing informations are converted into digital amounts and supplied to a digital operation circuit and the exposure is controlled by the output of the operation circuit. The camera comprises a digital-analogue converter for converting diaphragm informations from the operation circuit into analogue diaphragm informations, a comparison means for comparing the analogue diaphragm informations from a photographing lens with the analogue informations from the above digital-analogue converter, and an alternating switch which supplies the informations from the photographing lens to the comparison means for shutter preference photographing, and supplies the analogue informations from the photographing lens to the analogue-digital converter for diaphragm preference photographing. The output of the analogue-digital converter is supplied to the operation circuit, and the shutter preference and diaphragm preference photographings is made possible by the changeover of the alternating switch.

    • An exposure control apparatus operating with selection of the diaphragm preselection and shutter preselection automatic exposure control modes is provided with first and second signal shapers arranged to cooperate with a lens aperture mechanism through a common intermediate member. Upon setting of a desired diaphragm value in the lens aperture mechanism, the intermediate member is driven along with the first signal shaper in exactly corresponding relation. In the shutter preselection automatic diaphragm control mode, while the first signal shaper is cut off from connection with an exposure value computer, the second signal shaper is driven for scanning operation to produce ever-varying outputs which are compared with the output of the computer upon coincidence to stop movement of the lens aperture mechanism, thereby the scanning result is translated to the proper diaphragm presetting, as the intermediate member is arranged to delay the start of movement of the lens aperture mechanism from the start of the scanning operation by a time interval determined by taking into account the signal response characteristics of the automatic diaphragm adjusting mechanism.

    • An exposure control for a single lens reflex camera includes an adjustable shutter which is arranged to furnish a plurality of exposure times, and an adjustable electrical delay circuit which is operative to adjust the shutter to select the exposure time. An adjustable diaphragm is also included which is arranged to furnish a plurality of aperture sizes and is mounted into a lens and which further includes circuitry for receiving light from a photographing object through the diaphragm and converting it into electrical signal. A diaphragm determining device is connected with the diaphragm to select an aperture size, and which is connected to the receiving circuitry and further includes circuitry for detecting the adjustable aperture limit connected with the delay circuit to compensate the adjusted exposure time for proper exposure. A manually operated selector is included for adjusting the diaphragm determining device to insert the adjusted time. A storage capacitor is also included for memorizing the electrical signal of the receiving circuitry connected with the delay circuit when shutter operation is effected.

    • An automatic exposure control apparatus for controlling the diaphragm of the camera in accordance with the preselected shutter time and the exposure value, in which a digital-to-analog converter having a counter responsive to the number of pulses supplied from a clock pulse generator through a gate produces a time variable output capable of attaining a certain level dependent upon the preselected shutter time and a light value as photoelectrically sensed, that is, an exposure value and, which is detected by a first comparator. The output of the first comparator is applied to the gate, so that the converter is set to memorize the exposure value therein. As the diaphragm presetting ring is moved from the maximum to minimum aperture position with production of a time variable output from a signal generator associated therewith, a second comparator responsive to the attainment of the time variable output of the signal generator to a level dependent upon the final output of the set converter produces an output which is applied to arresting means for the diaphragm presetting ring. This results in automatic adjustment of the position of the presetting ring. At the time the presetting ring begins to move, the diaphragm driving means is actuated causing the diaphragm means to be brought into engagement with the ring. Thus, an effective exposure aperture is established in the diaphragm means.

    • A photographic camera having a manually and automatically adjustable diaphragm is provided with an electromagnetically operated diaphragm scanning mechanism in combination with a manually operable depth of field pre-viewing device to enable a visual determination of the utilizable zone of sharpness in a reflex viewfinder of the camera regardless of the fact that the camera remains in the run down position. For this purpose, the diaphragm scanning mechanism includes a scanning member and a driving member arranged to establish driving connection therebetwen during the automatic adjustment of the diaphragm. Release means is provided and is responsive to the termination of closing operation of the camera shutter for effecting release of the driving connection, whereby the photographer before cocking the camera is enabled to manipulate the diaphragm followed by the pre-viewing device to read off the range of sharpness in dependence on the manual setting of the diaphragm for use in making a subsequent exposure.

After the measured shutter interval has ended, a current in the shutter control changes and operates on a magnet which has been holding the shutter open and causes the magnet to close the shutter, such as by releasing a closing screen.
