    • A gas circulation engine includes a combustion chamber to which high-pressure fuel in a first high-pressure fuel supply passage, an oxidant and working gas are supplied; a circulation path that connects an intake-side portion and an exhaust-side portion of the combustion chamber to each other; a fuel bleed-off tank into which the high-pressure fuel in the first high-pressure fuel supply passage is bled off; a fuel bleed-off valve that permits or shuts off communication between the first high-pressure fuel supply passage and the fuel bleed-off tank; and a fuel bleed-off control unit that permits communication between the first high-pressure fuel supply passage and the fuel bleed-off tank by opening the fuel bleed-off valve when the engine is stopped, the communication between the first high-pressure fuel supply passage and the fuel bleed-off tank being shut off during operation of the engine.

    • An excess voltage applied to a piezoelectric element is detected and controlled to improve durability and reliability of the piezoelectric element. A fuel injection control device for an internal combustion engine in which a power source voltage is boosted by a dc-dc converter and the so-boosted output voltage is supplied via a first choke coil and a first thyristor to a piezoelectric element for charging the piezoelectric element, the electric charge of which is subsequently discharged via a second thyristor and a second choke coil. The fuel injection control device includes a positive voltage detection unit for detecting an excess voltage arranged between the first choke coil and the first thyristor and a positive voltage control unit controlled by an output signal of the positive voltage detection unit and adapted for shorting both ends of the first choke coil. The current through the first thyristor is cutoff to prevent the excess voltage from being applied to the piezoelectric element.

    • A hydraulic control system for a continuously variable transmission which has an input and an output variable-diameter pulley, a belt connecting the input and output pulleys, and a pair of cylinders for changing effective diameters of the pulleys. The control system includes a hydraulic source to supply a pressurized fluid for applying first and second line pressure to one and the other of the cylinders via a first and a second line, respectively. The control system comprises: a first regulator, connected to the first line, for regulating the first line pressure to be applied to the one cylinder, and thereby controlling a tension of the belt; a flow control device, disposed in the second line, for controlling flows of the fluid into and from the other cylinder, for controlling a speed ratio of the transmission; a second regulator, disposed between the hydraulic source and the first regulator, for controlling a rate of relief flow of the fluid therethrough from the second line into the first line, and thereby regulating the second line pressure which is higher than the first line pressure; and a controller for controlling the second regulator to regulate the second line pressure according to a predetermined condition.
