    • Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes monitoring a group of wireless channels that are useable by at least a first wireless communication device for wireless communications, receiving one or more beacon signals from one or more second wireless communication devices, identifying, within the group of wireless channels, one or more primary channels on which the one or more beacon signals are received, estimating a traffic load for the one or more identified primary channels, determining, based on the estimated traffic load, whether to use as a primary channel for the first wireless communication device, a channel of the one or more identified primary channels or a channel of the group of wireless channels that is separate from the one or more identified primary channels; and selecting the primary channel for the first wireless communication device based on a result of the determining.

A described technique includes determining a primary access category for a transmission opportunity (TXOP) to transmit data to a primary wireless communication device, the primary access category being an access category included in a group of access categories that are associated with different transmission priorities, respectively; retrieving one or more primary data units belonging to the primary access category to transmit to the primary wireless communication device during the TXOP; determining a secondary access category for the TXOP, the secondary access category being an access category included in the group of access categories, the secondary access category having a transmission priority different from the primary access category; retrieving one or more secondary data units belonging to the secondary access category to transmit to a secondary wireless communication device during the TXOP; and transmitting spatially steered streams during the TXOP, the steered streams embodying the one or more primary data units and the one or more secondary data units.

    • A ZigBee network device assigns addresses to its child devices. The ZigBee network device includes a communication section that connects the ZigBee network device to other devices and which communicates with the other devices; a parameter determination section that determines at least one network parameter; a calculation section that calculates addresses for child devices of the ZigBee network device based on a determined network parameter, where each of the child devices is connected to the ZigBee network device via the communication section; and a controller that assigns addresses to the child devices of the ZigBee network device. At least one determined network parameter is at least one of Cm, which indicates a maximum number of the child devices of the ZigBee network device, and Rm, which indicates a maximum number of the child devices of the ZigBee network device which have routing capabilities.
