    • Multiple hygienic effects are concurrently applied to structures of body cavities. This is established by two or more light sources each capable of delivering a light beam to the structures using optical pathways whereby each light beam provides a unique hygienic effect to the structures. The device could be a handheld device with detachable components. The device could include a massaging mechanism and/or a vibrating mechanism. An agent could be used to the body cavity to assist in the hygienic treatment plan. A cradle could be included to store the device, reload the power supply of the device, as well as a means to communicate with a hygienic service provider. The cradle could also host a display and a selector. A test mechanism could be included to test a performance of the device or to calibrate components of the device.

    • A device for the application of light treatment at a body structure is provided. The device could also be referred to as (dental) floss and be used for body structures in an oral cavity. The device distinguishes a container and a filament. The container hosts one or more light sources each capable of delivering a light beam with a unique light treatment. A user could select between the different light sources and/or parameters. The filament is a strand or fiber of a material transparent to the light beam. The filament is optically connected to a light source (or selected light source) such that the light beam could radiate through the filament at a body structure. The filament could be used in direct or not in direct contact with a body surface as long as the light treatment can be applied to the body structure.

    • A mirror-based laser processing system, e.g., for laser welding, provided with manual control of movements of a laser welding spot W on an object O being treated. The system includes a laser source (10) which generates a laser beam capable of treating the object (O), a mirror-based micromanipulator (14) which consists of a concave mirror (18) and a convex mirror (16) facing each other, and a laser beam splitter (20) which is located on the path of the laser beam reflected from concave mirror (18). The object is located in a focusing position of the laser beam reflected from the laser beam splitter (20). The system has a sensor head (32) for controlling the positions and temperature of the welding spot W. The sensor head is provided with a laser unpenetrated protective window (34), a neutral-density filter (36) which attenuates the infrared scattering light reflected from object O being treated, an infrared narrow-band filter 38 which passes only thermal components of the scattered infrared light, and photodetectors (40) and (42), which convert the intensity of the received light into electrical signals which carry information about the spatial temperature distribution in the vicinity of welding spot W.

    • A method and apparatus for molding plastic containers and the like, and for removing unwanted flash material therefrom. In the molding step, the unwanted dome portion of a container is molded to have a conveyor engaging groove therein, and the unwanted tail flash portion is molded to have a weakened line area at the point of attachment to the bottom of the container. After ejection from the mold, the container is conveyed to a tail removal device that grips and tears the tail along the weakened line area by a downward and rearward force. The container is conveyed to a dome removal device that engages the groove in the dome, moves the dome against a cutting edge, and rotates the container to effectuate a complete removal of the dome. The tail and dome removal operations are performed quickly and cleanly immediately after ejection of the containers from the mold while the plastic is still hot and pliable.

    • Occipital plate systems are described. The occipital plate systems can include a novel occipital plate having an upper portion and lower portion. The lower portion can include an opening for receiving one or more lateral members therethrough. The lateral members include top and/or side apertures for receiving lateral connectors that are attached to polyaxial screw receiving members. The occipital plate systems can also include low-profile clamping arms that are operably attached to an occipital plate via an extension member and articulating joint member. The clamping arms, along with tension cables attached intermittently along its length, can be used in addition to or instead of screws and hooks to secure an occipital plate system to vertebrae.
