摘要： A fuel contaminant sensor is provided. The fuel containment sensor includes a fluid reservoir having an inlet and an outlet. A light source for projecting a light beam through the fluid reservoir is disposed on the fluid reservoir. A light beam detector for receiving the light beam projected through the fluid reservoir is disposed opposite the light source. A controller is provided for activating the light source and for receiving an output of the light beam detector. An interruption of the light beam inhibits the light beam detector from receiving the light beam.

The variable displacement internal combustion engine includes at least one switching hydraulic lash adjuster. A lash adjuster oil feed passage is at least partially defined by one of the cylinder block and the cylinder head. The lash adjuster oil feed passage is operable to communicate pressurized oil to the at least one switching hydraulic lash adjuster. A distributed accumulator is disposed within the lash adjuster oil feed passage and operates to attenuate oil pressure spikes within the lash adjuster oil feed passage.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for testing functionality of an engine cylinder deactivation control and system having a plurality of solenoid-operated valves for controlling hydraulic actuation of switching valve lifters. The apparatus includes a portable test box enclosing an electrical circuit connectable to the deactivation control. Also included are a ground lead for connection to the control ground, a solenoid lead for each cylinder and connectable to the solenoids of their respective cylinders, and external taps on the exterior of the box and connected one with each of the ground lead and the solenoid leads. Exemplary methods are disclosed for using the box to test for grounds and circuit resistance as well as proper operation of the system in a running engine.

摘要： A pressure regulator has a spool valve positioned by a linear motor to control flow through a spill passage from a fuel inlet to a fuel outlet and thereby control the fuel pressure in the inlet as a function of the current in the linear motor, a piston subjected to the pressure in the fuel inlet and defining a variable orifice adapted to create a reference pressure at a desired differential from the pressure in the fuel inlet, a diaphragm subjected to the reference pressure and the pressure in the air inlet, and a valve positioned by the diaphragm to control flow from the air inlet to the air outlet whereby the pressure in the air inlet is maintained at a desired differential below the pressure in the fuel inlet.
