    • An optical apparatus is disclosed, which is suitable for the focus detection by the TTL phase difference detection method, and capable of producing a pair of phase difference images for focus detection with high accuracy. The optical apparatus comprises a deflection optical element which deflects at least one of first and second luminous fluxes with respect to the other. The first and second luminous fluxes are transmitted respectively through first and second areas of an exit pupil of an optical system, and then reach a photoelectric conversion element. The deflection direction of the luminous flux is different from the division direction of the first and second areas.

    • An angiographic catheter has exhibits elasticity as a whole and has at a distal end portion thereof a deformed portion that is curved into a desired shape when no external force is applied thereto. The deformed portion has at a distal end thereof a distal end opening. A plurality of minute side apertures are formed in a portion that is located toward a proximal end of the catheter from the deformed portion. These side apertures are arranged such that a reaction force generated by injection of a contrast medium (liquid) fed through a lumen of the catheter from the distal end opening is counterbalanced to the greatest possible extent by the contrast medium (liquid) injected from the respective side apertures.

    • An apparatus for detecting velocity of an object, includes a light source for generating light having a wavelength .lambda., a light-transmission block for receiving the light from the light source, and guiding the light onto the object, and a photosensor for detecting the light from the object on which the light from the light-transmission block is incident. The light-transmission block is integrally constituted by a diffraction grating for diffracting the light from the light source to produce two diffraction lights, and an optical element for causing the two diffraction lights from the diffraction grating to be incident onto the object at a predetermined incident angle. The diffraction grating and the optical element are arranged so as to have substantially constant sin.theta./.lambda. independently of a change in wavelength .lambda. of the light from the light source where .theta. is the incident angle of each diffraction light onto the object. A velocity of the object is detected through detection by the photosensor.

    • The present invention provides a heat transfer recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium by selectively applying thermal energy by a recording head, comprises: conveying means for conveying a transfer medium, a recording head for selectively applying the energy to the transfer medium, pressing means for changing a pressing force of the recording head, tension means for changing a conveying tension on the transfer medium, peeling angle changing means for changing an angle of the transfer medium peeled from the recording medium; and control means for changing the conveying tension on the transfer medium or/and the peeling angle in response to the change in the pressing force of the recording head. The present invention further provides a heat transfer recording method for recording an image on a recording medium by selectively applying thermal energy by a recording head, wherein: when a pressing force of the recording head is increased, a tension on a transfer medium at a downstream side of the transfer medium with respect to the recording head is increased, or a tension on the transfer medium at an upstream side of the transfer medium with respect to the recording head is decreased, or a peeling angle of the transfer medium peeled from the recording medium is increased.
