    • A squeegee assembly includes i) a handle having a male blade-mounting portion; and ii) a dual-extruded squeegee blade having a resilient squeegee portion and a channel. The channel is constructed of a generally semi-rigid material and is sized and shaped to be slidably mounted to the male blade-mounting portion of the handle. The handle is constructed of a molded thermoplastic or a stamped metal and includes a gripping area. The dual-extruded squeegee blade is constructed of compatible vinyls, elastomers, or other thermoplastics. The squeegee portion is chevroned, with the chevron defining a pair of cleaning members, so that the squeegee blade is reversible. In an alternative embodiment, the squeegee blade includes a sponge extruded therewith. In a further alternative embodiment, the squeegee blade includes a second channel extruded therewith and an extruded sponge adapted to be slidably insertable into the second channel.

    • An adjustable tool holder for carrying a tool, such as a paint brush, on a handle, such as an extension handle. The invention broadly includes a yoke assembly for mounting the holder on the handle and a carrier assembly for carrying the tool. The yoke assembly has a generally U-shaped configuration, with yoke arms extending upward from a handle mount. The carrier assembly includes a link assembly for mounting the carrier assembly on the yoke for angular movement in discrete preselected steps about an axis passing through the yoke, operable by imposing a moment force on the link assembly. Link arms extend between and in sliding contact with the inner surfaces of the yoke arms, with axle plugs joining adjacent yoke and link arms for rotational movement. A series of detent recesses and projections, respectively formed in adjacent yoke and link arms, permits rotational movement in a series of discrete steps of selected angular distance, without requiring the loosening of any screws or wing nuts. A clamp assembly accepts and retains a selected portion of the tool therein.

    • A hand-held tool for carrying a scraping/stripping blade. The tool includes a base element, generally T-shaped in outline, including a handle and a blade receiver with a fixed jaw face oriented toward the central plane of the tool, and a lever aperture extending through the blade receiver adjacent to the handle. A locking aperture in formed in the handle remote from the blade receiver means, with a locking rail disposed therein, oriented generally parallel to the blade receiver. A blade clamp is pivotally attached to the base element and includes a movable jaw face and a perpendicular blade clamping lever, divided into three portions in a zig-zag pattern, carrying a latch, adapted to engage the locking rail at its extremity, and an unlocking point at its distal end. The blade clamp pivots on an axis at the base of the fixed jaw face and the clamping lever extends through the lever aperture and into the locking aperture. In the open position, force applied to the locking point urges the latch against the locking rail, causing the lever to flex and allowing the latch to engage the locking rail. Similarly, in the locked position, force applied to the unlocking point causes the lever to bend in the opposite direction, allowing the latch to disengage from the locking rail.This allows for quick blade insertion or blade reversal for convenient safe storage.

The contoured guide ramps (200a-200f) have retention notches (212a-212d) therein for removably locking the spring clips (204, 206) in a sandpaper securing position against the handle mounting surface (16).

    • A retractable cutting implement, such as a utility knife, comprises a sleeve-like handle member having a cavity portion with the handle member being open at the base and at one end through a first longitudinal slot. A carrier member is pivotally mounted to the handle for pivotal movement into and out of the cavity with the carrier member being resiliently held within the cavity when it is pivotally moved into the cavity for substantially closing the cavity. The carrier member comprises a substantially enclosed longitudinally extending chamber with a passage therein in communication with the one end of the first slot in the handle member and a blade carriage member is slidably mountable in this chamber for slidable movement toward and away from the passage. The blade carriage member has a plurality of studs at the end thereof opposite the pivotally mounted end of the carrier member adapted to support a perforated cutting blade having a top edge and a bottom edge for slidable movement of the blade into and out of the first slot one end through the passage when the implement is in the closed position. The carrier member includes an outer edge having a guide channel portion which is disposed on the carrier for protecting a portion of the cutting edge of the blade when the blade is supported on the studs. The handle member has a second longitudinal slit therein with a button disposed on the blade carriage member and extending through the chamber and into this slit in the closed position of the implement. The button is movable along the slit to effectuate movement of the blade carriage member to extend or retract the blade from the knife. The carrier further includes a resilient clip portion adapted to store and resiliently hold perforated cutting blade replacements for the supported blade with the resilient clip being pivotally insertable within the handle. The carrier, the handle and the blade carriage member are all preferably composed of metal, such as steel.

    • A preferred embodiment of a safety carton cutter comprises a first frame member pivotably connected to a second frame member to form a housing. Inside the housing mounted on the first frame member is a blade receptacle having a latch, a blade carrier, a biasing member and a follower. The follower is adapted to communicate with a cam profile located on a cam in the first frame member. The configuration of the follower and cam profile provides an extending and retracting mechanism that keeps the blade in a constant exposed position before and during the cutting process, and then allows the blade to retract immediately after the cutting process is complete.

    • A preferred embodiment of a caulk tool comprises a body member having a raised handle and two working heads. The first working head is adapted for the application of caulk and is connected to the first descending end of the raised handle. The first working head preferably comprises a triangular member formed of soft plastic material. The triangular member is rotatable, having three tips of varying size. The second working head is adapted for the removal of old caulk and is connected to the second descending end of the raised handle axially opposed to the first working head. The second working head preferably comprises a metallic head having two tips suited to remove old caulk. In a preferred embodiment, a third working head in the form of a flat scraper is positioned adjacent to said second working head.

    • An inventive pouring spout that is selectively attachable to a container and fitted to the opening of the container with which it is used. In a preferred embodiment, the pouring spout is fitted to the dimensions of a one-quart container and includes a wall, a sealing member, a mouth and a handle. The handle is connected to the wall with a hinge that enables the handle to pivot away from the container to allow the sealing member to be appropriately positioned while the container rests flat on a surface. After the sealing member is in place, the handle is then pivoted back in position to securely hold the container. The handle includes a plurality of upwardly extending projections adapted to securely engage the bottom rim of the container. Furthermore, thermoplastic material is applied at the handle area forming a handle cover that is comfortable and easy to grip. Thermoplastic material is also preferably utilized in the construction of the sealing member for forming a seal between the spout and opening of the container.

    • A folding knife for applying a cutting action is provided that includes a blade assembly having a guard configured to cover the cutting edge of the blade when the knife is not in use. The guard is maintained in a normally blade covered position by a resilient member. The blade guard has a guard actuator for providing at least one motion for a user to move the blade guard from the normally blade covered position to an un-guarded or cutting position. The folding knife comprises a housing having the blade assembly locked in a closed position and is pivotably associated with the housing. The knife further comprises an actuator for unlocking the blade assembly from the closed position to a locked open position. The actuator further comprises a locking tab and the blade assembly further comprises a locking slot. The locking tab is configured to lock the blade guard in the un-guarded or cutting position. The housing further comprises a resilient member urging the blade assembly in the open position. Upon depression of the actuator, the blade assembly will automatically open to the locked open position from the locked closed position. Other embodiments are also described.
