    • A device for increasing an amount of fuel to be supplied to an engine includes a fuel increasing mechanism for supplying an added amount of fuel to the engine, and an electric control circuit including a low-temperature sensor for detecting a low temperature of the engine to produce a first signal capable of actuating the fuel increasing mechanism, and a neutral-gear-condition detector for detecting the neutral-gear-condition of a gear transmission associated with the engine to produce a second signal. The fuel increasing mechanism is inactivated in response to the second signal from the neutral-gear-condition sensor by overriding the low-temperature sensor to prevent the increase of fuel while the gear transmission is in neutral. A second embodiment employs additional sensors for air temperature, engine r.p.m., vehicle speed and the park-condition of an automatic transmission also for controlling the fuel increase.

    • An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine comprises an exhaust passage, a carburetor, an on-off type electromagnetic valve for correcting the air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture supplied to the cylinder and an O.sub.2 -sensor for detecting the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gases, a catalytic converter provided in the exhaust passage, and a feedback control circuit responsive to the output of the O.sub.2 -sensor for producing pulses for driving the electromagnetic valve for correcting the air-fuel ratio. The O.sub.2 -sensor is provided at a position downstream of the catalytic converter such that the volume of the exhaust passage from an inlet of the exhaust passage to the position is substantially twice as much as the volume from the inlet to an inlet of the catalytic converter. The feedback control circuit comprises a differentiating circuit for differentiating the output of the O.sub.2 sensor and a microcomputer. The microcomputer operates in dependency on the output of the differentiating circuit for driving the on-off type electromagnetic valve.

    • An electronic control system for a carburetor of an internal combustion engine having an induction passage, engine cooling water and a device supplies an air-fuel mixture to the induction passage. A converter converts the temperature of the engine cooling water to a first voltage signal. A choke valve is disposed in the induction passage and a bimetal actuates the choke valve. A positive temperature coefficient heater heats the bimetal. A heater circuit produces a second voltage signal dependent on the resistance of the positive temperature coefficient heater. An air-fuel ratio controller controls the air-fuel ratio of the mixture supplied by the air-fuel mixture supply device. A calculating circuit combines the voltage signals from the converter and the heater circuit respectively and produces an electronic control for controlling the air-fuel ratio control. The electronic control is responsive to the output electric signals of the calculating circuit such that the air-fuel ratio is controlled to a value providing satisfactory cold engine operating performance.

    • The thermal and vacuum tracking carburetor Jet is a variable size jet. The opening size is continuously controlled by a thermal spring transducer measuring the temperature of the exhaust gasses, and by a vacuum diaphragm transducer measuring the vacuum within the intake manifold of the engine. When exhaust gasses become too hot indicating too lean a fuel mixture the thermal spring expands opening the jet; if the gasses are too cool the spring contracts and via mechanical linkage, the jet closes. When engine vacuum falls indicating more of a load is placed on the engine the vacuum diaphragm transducer opens the jet providing a richer mixture; when vacuum rises indicating a lessened load or deceleration the jet closes producing a leaner mixture.
