摘要： A polyalkene dispersant comprised of low MW polyalkene having an average molecular weight range of about 300 to about 10,000 and an ethylenically-unsaturated, aliphatic or aromatic, nitrogen- and oxygen-containing graftable monomer and methods of making the same are disclosed. The monomers are formed by reacting an acylating agent with amines having one or more primary or secondary amine to form a reaction product. Graft polyalkene dispersants comprising such monomers are formed by grafting the reaction product to the polyalkene backbone. Also described is lubricating oil comprising base oil and the dispersant polyalkene as described above.

摘要： Disclosed are novel succinimide compounds effective in diesel engine lubricating oil for protecting engine parts from being corroded or worn by SOx. An acid compound of formula (I) or (II) is reacted with a polyamine to produce the succinimide compounds, which give an absorption peak (.alpha.-peak) at 1640.+-.cm.sup.-1 and an absorption peak (.beta.-peak) at 1700.+-.10 cm.sup.-1 in the IR spectral pattern with the ratio, .alpha.-peak intensity/.beta.-peak intensity, of being 0.12 or more.[1] ##STR1## R is an alkenyl or alkyl group derived from a C2 to C15 olefinic polymer and having a number-average molecular weight of from 200 to 4000. The succinimide compound is added to base oil along with a metallic detergent-dispersant additives selected from over-based sulfonates, phenates and salicylates of alkaline earth metals to give a lubricating oil composition for diesel engines.

摘要： A process for preparing polymeric amides is disclosed. The process comprises sequentially reacting a hydrocarbon polymer functionalized (e.g., via the Koch reaction) to contain acid, ester, thioacid and/or thioester groups with a heavy polyamine to form a partially derivatized product in which at least about 85% of the functional groups are converted to heavy (thio)amide groups, and then reacting the partially derivatized product with an excess of light amine to complete the derivatization by converting substantially all of the remaining functional groups to light (thio)amide groups. Products of the foregoing process are also disclosed, which products are useful as additives in fuels and in lubricants.

摘要： A process for producing an oil soluble interpolymer polymer of 1,2-alkylenediamine such as N-ethyl ethylenediamine, aldehyde-provider such as formaldehyde, and ortho-unsubstituted hydroxyaromatics such as 4-polyalkylene phenol is disclosed. The decyclized Mannich Base monomer units provide a higher viscosity material which is suitably substituted with a long chain hydrocarbyl para substituent such as polyisobutylene or ethylene/alpha-olefin polymer. Various ortho-substituted hydroxyaromatics such as o-cresol may be used to control the degree of polymerization. The polymers are useful as dispersants or other lubricant additives.

摘要： A lubricating oil composition comprising a major portion of a lubricating oil and a minor amount of an additive. The additive is prepared by reacting a polyamine with an alkenyl succinic acid anhydride having a number average molecular weight of about 500 to about 10,000 at a temperature of 60.degree. C.-120.degree. C. to form mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or a mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide. 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid is then added to form an acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide. The acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide is acylated with an acylating compound selected from the group consisting of glycolic acid, oxalic acid, lactic acid, 2-hydroxymethyl-propionic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid at a temperature of about 150.degree. C. to about 185.degree. C., to form a mixed acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide and the mixed acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide is recovered.
