摘要： A color printer inludes an ink ribbon supporting frame mounted on a base unit swingingly about an axis parallel to a platen. A ribbon cassette comprises a cassette case for accommodating a color ink ribbon which has a plurality of different color longitudinal stripes so that at least a part of the ink ribbon forms a loop exposed from and extending to the cassette case. The ribbon loop is positioned along the platen and between a printing head and the platen, when the ribbon cassette is set on the ribbon frame. A ribbon guide is slidably mounted on a carrier for supporting the ink ribbon at a position adjacent to the printing head. The ribbon frame and ribbon guide are simultaneously shifted so that a desired one of color stripes of the ink ribbon is positioned on a predetermined printing line.

Translation of the shuttle (50) and the cam (66) associated with the shuttle (50) effects movement of cam follower (66a) engageable with the cam (66), causing the deflectable arms (16a, 16b) of the cartridge (15) to oscillate between a rest and elevated position to place different portions of the print ribbon (13) intermediate the type element (23) and the platen (11). The shuttle (50) also carries ribbon feed drive means (85) which cause an incremental feed of the ribbon (13) after the ribbon has been struck at multiple elevated positions. Moreover, by placing a correction ribbon cartridge (30) beneath the ribbon cartridge (15), another cam (70) on the shuttle can effect platform (40) elevation when it is desired to dispose the correction ribbon (30) intermediate the printing element (23) and the platen (11). This action occurs as a result of the oscillation of the shuttle (50).

摘要： Pivotally mounted plastic ribbon deck for an electronic business machine printer rotatably supporting two spools to normally present an operable position of ribbon in a lower inoperative position and liftable to move the ribbon to first or second upper operative positions by a rotatable plastic cam and a plastic lifting link, the latter being selectively moveable laterally to be engaged by different portions of the cam. Automatically reversible ribbon feed comprising a plastic feed pawl beam slidable on the ribbon deck and having one of two edge notches held by springs in engagement with a laterally oscillatable drive stud and one or the other of its pawl ends engaging a ribbon spool ratchet. When sliding of beam is prevented by ribbon resistance due to unwinding of all of ribbon from one spool to which its end is secured, the drive stud moves relative to the beam into engagement with the other edge notch and the springs tilt the beam to engage its other pawl end with the ratchet of the other spool to reverse the direction of the ribbon feeding.
