    • Characteristics of a multi-layer structure are detected, such as for detecting mechanical and/or corrosive damage of the multi-layer structure. In an example embodiment, an integrated in-situ sensor device senses characteristics of a multi-layer structure during operation thereof. The device includes a mechanical coupler and a sensor circuit. The mechanical coupler couples layers of the multi-layer structure together via an opening traversing the multi-layer structure. The sensor circuit inserts into the opening with the mechanical coupler, and induces an electrical response in a portion of the multi-layer structure adjacent the opening. This induced electrical response is indicative of characteristics of the multi-layer structure, and is sensed to provide a signal characterizing characteristics of the multi-layer structure.

    • A weather shield to protect workers and materials in a structure under construction from inclement weather while selectively providing stress relief to the weather shield from high winds in order to prevent damage to the weather shield is disclosed. The weather shield comprises a sheet of substantially flexible, substantially weatherproof material having a closeable opening for wind relief. The sheet protects the structure from inclement weather when the closeable opening is closed. When the closeable opening is open, it allows the passage of wind therethrough thereby tending to avoid wind damage to the weather shield. A temporary shelter for a structure under construction having a plurality of temporary guard rail supports and a weather shield is also disclosed, as well as a temporary shelter kit having a plurality of temporary guard rail supports and a weather shield.

    • A containment device for contaminated building demolition. A pre-engineered rigid steel frame building is supported on rail trucks movable on railroad tracks. The railroad tracks are positioned on opposite sides and along the length of the contaminated building to be demolished. The rigid steel frame building has one open end and is sized larger than the width and height of the contaminated building. This allows a portion of the contaminated building to be movably enclosed by the pre-engineered building. A flexible liner material inside the pre-engineered building, at the open end attached to the contaminated building, and at the bottom of the pre-engineered building draped to be in contact with the ground seals off the interior of the pre-engineered building to prevent the release of contaminated particles during demolishing operations. A hoist and cable are used to move the pre-engineered building on the railroad tracks. After the covered portion of the contaminated building is demolished and the area remediated, the pre-engineered building is moved on the railroad tracks to cover another portion of the contaminated building. The process is repeated until the contaminated building is completely demolished.

    • Drywall sheets and other construction materials may be more easily transferred into and within a partially completed building shell by the use of a drywall slideboard. The drywall slideboard consists of upper and lower hinge plates separated by a horizontal hinge. The upper hinge plate supports a removable top plate, which in turn supports a slide plate of a relatively low friction coefficient material. The lower hinge plate is supported by retaining members which permit the drywall slideboard to be temporarily installed upon a section of lumber stock such as a two by four for use, or alternatively the top plate and slide plate may be easily removed from the remainder of the slideboard. Methods of use are further described in which the drywall slideboard may be installed over a two by four or similar material at a window opening and used to facilitate the transfer of building materials into or out of the structure, or alternatively the drywall slideboard may be used to transfer materials up or down a stairway when only the top plate and slide plate are used.
