摘要： A container for disposable syringes has a body structure defining an interior chamber and a laterally elongated upper opening in an upward and forward surface of the container, the opening having a length and width sufficient to accept expended medical syringes of commonly used sizes broadside on, an upwardly opening lid for covering the opening and connected by a hinge to the rear of the elongated opening for movement upward and away from the opening, a laterally elongated chute extending into the body structure and having a front wall extending downwardly and rearwardly from the opening to a lower opening into the interior chamber, a wall extending downwardly from the hinge of the lid into the chute to form a labyrinth effective to arrest passage of a human hand through the chute short of the lower opening of the latter, and structure to control passage to the rear of the lower end of the front wall of the chute, into the interior chamber, of a syringe dropped down the chute. Preferably the wall is integral with the lid, whilst the control structure to the rear of the opening may be either a downward extension of the wall, or a separate structure. The structure of the container may be readily fabricated from either a cardboard blank, or from plastic or metal.

摘要： This invention is directed to an improved collapsible box for trash compactors and particularly aircraft trash compactors. The box is constructed from an integrally formed elongated main section having rectangularly shaped front, rear, and bottom panels and a pair of opposing side panels which are secured to continuous flanges hingedly connected to the vertical edges of the front and rear panels and to the horizontal edges of the bottom panel.At least one side panel is provided with a free-standing edge which is adapted to be seated in a guide or securing means or overhang within the compactor chamber which fixes the position of the side panel.A continuous medial fold line is provided at the middle of the front, rear, and bottom panels to facilitate the folding of the box into a collapsed state for storing. In the preferred embodiment, the front and rear panels are each provided with a pair of fold lines which extend from the lower edges of the panels to common points on the medial fold lines. These fold lines allow the front and rear panels to fold inwardly and the bottom panel to fold outwardly about the medial lines thereof.

The enclosure is placed into a plastic trash bag with the top lapped over the upper lip, leaving the handles exposed. A bottom pan having a strap retained across the underside is nested into the bag covered enclosure forming a structured base and the straps is attached to the handles, or holes, with integral hooks. Trash is placed inside the assembly and compressed manually against the sides of the enclosure and the base. A lid is placed on the top of the assembly for storage and transportation and the bag is removed by disconnecting the straps along with the pan, slipping the enclosure upward out of the bag. As the enclosure is tapered inversely, the compacted trash remains inside the bag sliding easily from the form.

摘要： A trash compactor and collapsible box for use therewith to handle waste material generated during flight of passenger-carrying aircraft. The trash compactor includes a housing formed with front and rear box chambers to receive first and second collapsible trash-receiving boxes. A front door is provided for the housing having a trash-receiving chute in its upper portion. The first box is initially disposed in the front box chamber. When it is filled, the front door is opened and the first box is pushed to the rear box chamber. The second box is then positioned within the front box chamber to receive trash, and the front door is shut. The collapsible boxes have a front wall disposed at the same elevation as the lower edge of the chute, while the tops of the side and rear walls are at a higher elevation than the top of the front wall to permit the boxes to receive a maximum amount of trash for their size. The bottom portion of the wall is of liquid-tight construction.

The storage tray, or holder member, has a peripheral wall, and a central locking device for removably securing an upstanding waste container. The locking device can comprise scallop-shaped fastening ears on the surface of the tray that are capable of interlocking with peripheral detents on the bottom of the waste container. The top of the waste container further has a pair of spring-biased closure members. The closure member can be formed with a pair of integral pivot pins for pivotal connection with the waste container walls and a pair of punched slits on the surface of the closure member to receive a band spring that can bias the closure member to a closed position.Another embodiment of the present invention includes a waste container that can be hooked, or attached, to the side of a storage container, such as a basket. The top of the waste container can have spring-biased closure members, while the bottom of the waste container is open with two sets of side ports. A movable bottom member has an upwardly extending hinge member for attachment to one of the side ports and a bias detent for removable insertion into the other side port to form the bottom of the waste container. A protruding support projection attached to the bottom member can extend under the basket to complete the attachment of the waste container to the side of the basket.
