摘要： A container for receiving and containing items to be disposed of, such as medical waste (used syringes, needles, and the like), is assembled from a blank, and comprises bottom, front, rear, top and end panels. The top panel has a front flap provided with opposing flap tucks which, when the container is assembled, are inserted into spaces between respective end panels and respective minor flaps of the front panel, thereby securing the top panel against inadvertent opening. The top panel also has a syringe-shaped opening which serves as an access to an inner flap of the front panel below so that, when an item to be disposed of is deposited through the opening onto the inner flap, and when a force is exerted on the inner flap from above, the inner flap rotates downward, and the item is deposited in the container. The inner flap is biased to a closed position so that, upon removal of the force, the inner flap rotates back to the closed position.

摘要： Containers are disclosed for storing soiled sharp medical instruments. In one embodiment, a container has an entrance defined by a pair of flaps. A soiled medical instrument is positioned on one of the flaps and pushed downwardly such that the flaps move apart allowing access to the container for storing the medical instrument. The container is preferably formed of a clear plastic material such that medical personnel may count the number of instruments stored within the container. A second embodiment includes a cylindrical member with a plate positioned near one axial end such that an enlarged space and a smaller space are defined. Both embodiments allow entire syringes to be easily stored while still providing safe storage of smaller medical instruments such as suture needles.

摘要： Containers suitable for storage and transport of regulated medical waste, including sharps and solid and semi-solid waste, which is disposable with the waste as by incineration, are provided by low cost paper, preferably corrugated paper, boxes having inserts which provide a mouth through which the waste items may be inserted. The insert has side walls which are attached to the side walls of the box near the top thereof. The insert has notches in the side walls along its bottom. A cover panel having tabs with spacing complimentary to the spacing of the notches is placed in the box upon the bottom of the insert with the tabs in the notches. The box may be lined with a plastic bag to provide leak resistance. The bag extends between the side walls of the insert and the side walls of the box and above the top of the box. The cover may also have a sleeve of flexible plastic material. To close the container, the plastic bag is tucked in so that it lies above the bottom of the insert. When the cover panel is placed in the insert, a seal is formed. Because of the notches, the insert is difficult to remove and any tampering becomes visible because of damage to the notches or tabs. For large solid or semi-solid waste items, the insert mouth is provided by providing a closure flap with part of the insert. A fold across the bottom of the insert and slits in the side walls extend upwardly, the entire height of the side walls at opposite ends of the fold. The side walls on one side of the slits are connected, as by stapling to the side walls of the box. Then the other side of the insert is pivotal providing the flap.

The containers include a top closure including first and second closure flaps whereby the first closure flap has a central opening for filling the box and a handle member for holding it. The handle member can be inserted into a corresponding aperture of the second closure flap which protects the handle from being contaminated during use. The design also includes using an interior space defined by an internal open-ended container wrapped in a preferred thermoplastic bag. This feature enables the container to resist leakage of contaminated materials and the risk of puncture of the container by sharp objects.

摘要： A disposable and collapsible water resistant trash receptacle has a pleated sidewall comprising the side cylindrical portion of the container and a circular bottom attached to the bottom of the cylindrical portion. The upper portion of the sidewall forms an integral lid and has pairs of tie tabs so that when the receptacle is full of trash, the lid is pulled up and the pairs of tie tabs can be tied together to seal off the receptacle when full of trash. The longitudinal pleating and the type of material employed for forming the sidewall gives the receptacle sufficient rigidity so that it is freestanding when in the opened position. Additionally the pleating allows the sidewall to compress inwardly forming a compact, elongate tube for transport and sale. Further features of the basic receptacle include vertical stiffeners attached or molded into the sidewall to increase its rigidity and a transverse reinforcing strip for increasing the rigidity around the area forming the rim of the receptacle. The pleated reinforcement strip has above it a transverse crease for providing a demarcation line for folding back down the upper portion of the sidewall to provide a large mouth opening when trash is being inserted into the interior of the receptacle.
