    • A safety device for butterfly dampers is mounted in the flue duct of oil fired central heaters and operated by a control device susceptible of rotating a damper element actuated by the pressure of fuel oil fed by a pump through an oil supply line to a burner head to open and close the flue duct. A valve device is mounted in the oil supply line between the oil pump and the burner head and controlled by a position indicator associated with the damper device. The rotation of the damper element is transferred to the position indicator who relays the signal to the valve device. Accordingly a rotation of the damper element toward the closing position will actuate the valve device to close the oil supply line and extinguish the heater.

    • A gas burner includes a gas reservoir, a combustion device, and a tilt safety device fluidly connecting to one another. The tilt safety device includes first and second seats including first and second gas passages respectively, an elastomer disposed on the second seat and including a section defining a stop, a control mechanism including a lever adjacent to the elastomer and including a first contact area and at least one second contact area selectively engaging with a pusher which engages with the stop, and a gas flow channel connecting to the second gas passage and a hole extending through the elastomer and the first gas passage and including the first and second ends thereof including the stop disposed therebetween. The first and at least one second contact areas space from the elastomer at first and second heights respectively. The second height is less than the first height.

    • Pilot light gas line connector assemblies and methods for cleaning a pilot light orifice are disclosed herein. An exemplary connector assembly for coupling to a pilot light gas line and cleaning a pilot orifice has a first fitting end, a second fitting end, and a passageway therebetween. The first fitting end is adapted to receive a first end of the pilot light gas line and the second fitting end is adapted to receive a valve capable of directing forced air from a forced air source into the second fitting end. Methods of cleaning a pilot orifice of a pilot light system include removing the pilot light gas line from a gas port and coupling the pilot light gas line to a pilot light gas line connector assembly. Then forced air is directed into the connector assembly and through the pilot light gas line, thereby cleaning the pilot orifice.

    • A dual fuel heating apparatus can include a safety control system having a shutoff valve, a thermocouple solenoid assembly, a first nozzle, and a second nozzle. The first nozzle can be positioned to direct heat from combustion of a first gas, liquid, or combination thereof towards the thermocouple solenoid assembly when the first gas, liquid, or combination thereof is being combusted. The second nozzle can be positioned to direct heat from combustion of a second gas, liquid, or combination thereof towards the thermocouple solenoid assembly when the second gas, liquid, or combination thereof is being combusted. The thermocouple solenoid assembly can be configured to maintain the shutoff valve in an open position based on heat from combustion directed to the thermocouple solenoid assembly or in a closed position based on an absence of heat from combustion directed to the thermocouple solenoid assembly.
