    • The valve is for use on a gas pressurized liquid food dispensing container or can, such as a whipped cream dispensing can. The valve includes a dish-shaped, preferably metal can top connector having a vertical opening up through which extends the vertical rod portion of a valve stem disposed within a passageway in a vertical tubular portion of a rubber grommet. The upper end of the grommet engages the lower end of an expanded head on the stem rod to hold the stem yieldingly in place in assembly. The horizontal lower end of the grommet abuts the lower end of the connector and the upper end of the horizontal base of the valve stem so as to releasably seal the connector opening therewith. The valve stem base includes an inverted skirt peripherally mounted thereon that, with the lower end of the grommet define a circular path for dispensing the product. An open-topped vertical cover is releasably secured around the grommet upper tubular portion, as by ribs or detents or threading and can be tilted sideways with the grommet upper tubular portion to tilt the stem base from its sealing position to release liquid from the can. The lower portion of the stem rod is generally conical and the grommet has an annular ring with pointed inner rim bearing there against for improved sealing engagement, and preventing inadvertent "blow-by" of liquid and solids and build-up of solids from the can. An annular ridge may be provided on the grommet inner passageway wall directly in the tilt path of the sterm base to act as a fulcrum for earlier and easier dispensing from the can.

    • The invention proposes a polyurethane assembly foam which is produced by foaming a mixture in which, before the completed foaming, there are brought together a solution of the propellant of the foam, a prepolymer of polyurethane, a reaction resin and, if need be, parts of its reagent with components kept separate from the solution until the final foaming, namely the reagent or individual ones of its components as well as possibly hardening accelerators of the polyurethane. The apparatus includes an outer pressure tank for the reception of the solution and an inner pressure tank for the separation of the components of the solution and a ram, movable from outside for perforating the inner pressure tank and permitting mixing of the contents of the tanks prior to release of the solution.

    • A tilt valve for an aerosol can is constructed so that it can be actuated only by transverse tilting forces. An output valve stem assembly is sealed to a valve housing whose inlet communicates with the interior of the aerosol can. A tilt element is biased against the bottom of the output valve assembly so as to seal the interior of the valve housing. A barrel-shaped spring is used to bias the tilt element so that the resistance of the output stem to tilting, and the stroke required for actuation, are reduced. The input stem and the bottom of the tilt element provide a secondary valve which is closed upon the output stem being subject to downward axial forces. Therefore, only transverse forces provided by an automatic actuating device can be used to actuate the tilt valve assembly.

    • A valve-and-lid assembly adapted for closing off the open top end of a pressurized container comprises a lid having a dome part protruding on an upper or lower face of the lid and having a central opening. A valve disc of elastically resilient material is lodged in the dome part and extends with a valve head part thereof through the central opening. The latter is surrounded by an axially extending collar portion of the dome part depending from a flat top wall of the latter and having an annular rim about the opening which is in sealing contact with a contact face of the valve head when the valve is closed, thereby obturating product ducts provided in the valve disc. Pressure on the face of the valve disc opposite the valve head by means of a tubulure or the like actuating means, which can carry a conventional atomizer head or filling head, moves the contact face of the valve head away from the collar portion rim and opens free communication between the interior of the container covered by the lid and the interior of the tubulure.

The actuator button is substantially the shape of a truncated cone having a larger cross-section at the base with respect to the cross-section at the top of the button. A one-piece overcap having an integral finger actuator is secured to the aerosol container for covering the actuator button. Engaging surfaces preferably having plural projections is disposed on the underside of the finger actuator for contacting the actuator button upon movement due to the finger pressure of the operator to open the valve and initiate fluid flow from the terminal orifice.
