    • A water-filtering kit has a filter container (1, 28, 32, 37, 41). A water filter (8) is positioned on an interior portion of the filter container. A filter-inlet connection (9) on the water filter is positioned in tube-access proximity to an inlet-tube aperture (10) in the filter container. Similarly, a filter-outlet connection (11) on the water filter is positioned in tube-access proximity to an outlet-tube aperture (12) in the filter container. The filter container is sized and shaped to contain an inlet tube (13) and an outlet tube (14) which can include one or more hoses in a compacted mode that includes winding, spooling and rolling. The filter container has a container top (7, 31, 36, 40) proximate which or to which a filter head (25) of the filter is attached. The filter, the inlet tube and the outlet tube are positioned in the filter container for storage and transportation. The inlet tube and the outlet tube can have quick disconnects (21, 22, 23, 24).

    • A passively filled reservoir in a motor vehicle fuel tank. The fuel tank has an electric fuel pump suspended therein and a tubular conduit through which surplus fuel is returned to the fuel tank. The passively filled reservoir includes a fuel containment vessel below the fuel pump, a passive fill port in the containment vessel juxtaposed a bottom panel of the fuel tank, a one-way valve in the passive fill port, a primary strainer around the containment vessel, and a secondary strainer inside of the containment vessel. The tubular conduit and a vapor discharge port of the electric fuel pump discharge into the containment vessel outside of the secondary strainer for recirculation to the fuel pump of surplus fuel and liquid fuel expelled from the fuel pump through the vapor discharge port. The primary strainer strains liquid fuel flowing through the passive fill port into the containment vessel. Capillary seal characteristics of the primary and the secondary strainers sustain vacuum at an inlet of the electric fuel pump until both the fuel tank and the containment vessel are substantially fully depleted.

    • An engine fuel delivery system and method, and for use therein, an in-tank fuel pump and reservoir canister module assembly having a primary fuel filter mounted in a base subassembly adjacent the bottom of the tank and defining a filter chamber in the base having an outlet connected to the inlet of an electric fuel pump received directly in the tank exteriorly alongside of an upright open top reserve fuel canister. The pump outlet is connected to a bypass pressure regulator which discharges fuel in excess of engine demand into the canister. The canister has a bottom outlet mounted on the base subassembly and closed by a flow controlling valve and/or by a restricted orifice communicating the canister outlet with the filter chamber for returning bypassed reserve fuel from the canister reservoir to the pump inlet, either continuously and/or when a low level supply of fuel in the tank to the primary filter is interrupted, such as during cornering or going up or down a steep hill or incline. The valve is formed integrally on or mounted in contact with a secondary filter diaphragm base mounted between the canister outlet and filter chamber and also communicating with the tank. The valve opens with canister outflow downwardly against the bias of a coil spring in response to pump suction acting on a capillary seal formed on the diaphragm filter material to thereby allow reserve fuel to wash over and flow through it into the filter chamber. At system shut-down a filter backwash flow can occur from the canister reservoir.
