    • A cultivating machine has one or more trailing rollers that support the cultivating members at the desired height. Each roller has ends that are journalled via bearings to adjustable arms and the bearings are protected by profiled hoods having rims joined to scraping elements which fit within dished screens on the roller ends. The elements remain stationary while the screens rotate and the former conduct soil away from the bearings during operation. Each roller has support plates with circumferential recesses that receive elongated peripheral elements. The arms extend upwardly to the rear and their forward ends are pivoted to a frame portion. A forward coupling trestle has rear supports interconnected to the arms.

    • An implement has at least one group of soil working members arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The group of members is carried on an elongated frame portion that is connected to an overlying supporting structure by parallelogram linkages. Fore and aft ground wheels on corresponding arms interconnect the wheels to beams of the structure and the arms for the front wheels form part of further parallelogram structures. A hydraulic piston assembly bridges each rear arm to an upper arm link of a further parallelogram linkage so that the arms can be pivoted and the supporting structure together with the frame portion with soil working members, are raised to a transport position. The wheels can each be adjusted about a vertical axis to support the implement, in part, during operation or entirely during transport. Respective coupling members are attached to the front and the side of the implement for towing same in either position. Stops and adjusting devices interconnect the various arms and linkages to limit and adjust the position of the frame portion and supporting structure with respect to the arms.

    • A rotary harrow has a plurality of soil-working members rotatably mounted on upwardly extending shafts and the shafts are journalled in an elongated frame portion that extends transverse to the direction of travel. A protective and supporting member of elongated and generally cylindrical configuration is secured to the frame portion by arms that are pivoted to that portion. The protective member can be rotatable or nonrotatable but is angularly displaceable about a horizontal axis that extends generally parallel to the frame portion. The protective member has an outer surface that can be of curved configuration and that outer surface extends adjacent the soil working members and is positioned relative to those members to direct debris downwardly to the ground. Stops on the frame portion and protective member limit the latter's movement relative to the remainder of the harrow.

    • A cultivator implement has at least one frame portion that houses a row of soil working members connected to driving means which rotates those members about corresponding upwardly extending axes. A supporting frame is designed to overlie and support the soil working members during operation and/or transport of the implement. The supporting frame comprises a plurality of substantially parallel beams that extend transverse to the normal direction of operative travel. The beams are spaced apart and positioned at different levels above the ground and interconnected with plates for strength and to properly support the implement. The beams are of angular, preferably square, cross section so that a diagonal of a beam extends substantially vertical for further strength. A coupling member is interconnected to the beams with struts so that the implement can be attached to a prime mover for operation.

    • A cultivator for pedestrian operation which has rotatable soil working members mounted on upright shafts and a rear supporting member with driving means that both rotates the soil working members as well as the rear supporting member to operate and propel the implement. A forward supporting member is pivoted to the frame and can be adjusted about a horizontal axis to regulate soil working depths and for transport. Preferably, the rear and forward supporting members are each rotatable and pivoted to the frame to turn about a common axis. These members are articulated by arms to an upright spindle that can be turned to simultaneously move the supporting members vertically. The rear supporting member has elongated rods with bends intermediate their ends to form a soil smoothing member.
