摘要： An electronic still camera without provision of a mechanical shutter is provided. This electronic still camera includes a solid state image sensor and a control unit therefor. This solid state image sensor comprises photosensitive units having a plurality of photosensitive pixels, a transfer unit for reading and transferring signal charges or unnecessary charges generated in the photosensitive pixels, an accumulation unit for temporarily accumulating the signal charges transferred by the transfer unit, draining means for draining the unnecessary charges transferred by the transfer unit, and taking-out means for taking out the signal charges accumulated in the accumulation unit. Thus, at the beginning of the exposure time, the control unit controls the solid state image sensor so as to read and transfer the unnecessary charges by the transfer unit to drain them by the draining means. Further, at the end of the exposure time, the control unit controls the solid state image sensor so as to read and transfer signal charges generated during the exposure time to accumulate them into the accumulation unit, thus to take out the signal charges accumulated as a pictorial image. The pictorial image thus taken out is recorded in the recording unit of the electronic still camera.

摘要： A semiconductor laser device comprises a substrate having an n-type buffer layer, a semiconductor laser element and auxiliary element, provided side by side on the buffer layer. The semiconductor laser element includes a mesa portion having a p-type low resistant semiconductor region provided above the buffer layer, an active region consisting of a semiconductor formed on the buffer layer and low resistant region, a pair of buried portions integrally formed with the low resistive region and formed on and contiguous to opposite sides of the active region in the width direction. A lateral hole is provided between the buffer layer and low resistive region on the side of buried portion. The auxiliary element includes a high resistive regions integrally formed with the low resistant region and positioned on the sides of low resistive region.

摘要： A laser element assembly used in an optical disk apparatus or others is made up of a laser element for emitting a laser beam and a holder for holding the laser element, and it is required to set the traveling direction of the laser beam accurately to a desired direction when the laser element assembly is incorporated in the optical disk apparatus. Further, in a method of fabricating a laser element assembly in accordance with the present invention, a laser element is operated so as to emit a laser beam, and a machining operation is performed for the laser emitting surface of a holder in a state that the laser beam is emitted from the laser element, to make the laser emitting surface perpendicular to the traveling direction of the laser beam.

摘要： A multi-room type air-conditioner includes an outdoor unit and a plurality of indoor units connected thereto and is capable of providing cooling and hearing by change-over of a 4-way valve. A plurality of motorized valves are provided on each liquid line of the outdoor unit, respectively in order to control superheat of low pressure gaseous refrigerant at the use-side heat exchanger outlet of each indoor unit in cooling and also to control sub-cool of high pressure liquid refrigerant at the heat exchanger outlet in heating. The motorized valve is completely closed in cooling mode for the non-operating indoor unit and the motorized valve for the non-operating indoor unit is controlled in the heating mode to have a small opening so that no liquid refrigerant accumulation takes place in the non-operating indoor unit.
