    • An apparatus for transporting a postal matter comprises a main transporter for transporting the matter one by one and first and second auxiliary transporters extending form the feed-out end of the main transporter. The first auxiliary transporter have a feed-out end thereof connected to the feed-in end of the main transporter. A gate is provided between the main and auxiliary transporters to selectively connect the main transporter one of the first and second auxiliary transporters, and a stamper is provided on the second auxiliary transporter for stamping supplied postal matter. The apparatus is stopped when jamming of postal matter occurs in the transporters and the gate causes the main transporter and first auxiliary transporters to be held connected for a predetermined period of time at the time of resuming the operation of the apparatus after removal of the jamming.

    • In order to make a process of capturing and testing air-borne microorganisms more convenient and quick, a capturing device which comprises the capturing carrier comprising a polymer which is in a gel phase at the time of capturing the microorganisms but undergoes a phase transition under heating to a sol phase at the temperature at or less than 40° C. (especially in the temperature range between 15° C. and 37° C.), and a vessel to contain the capturing carrier is used. Further, by comprising a test reagent in the polymer, the test reagent can be eluted upon said phase transition from a gel phase to a sol phase. By heating the capturing carrier, a phase transition to a sol phase can occur at or less than 40° C. As such, since recovery of microorganisms and addition of a test reagent to the microorganisms can be carried out simultaneously, the process can be simplified and the process time can be shortened.

    • When reflection light, reflected from a measurement target that has been irradiated with measurement light in such a manner to scan the measurement target, and reference light are combined in each wavelength sweep, interference light is detected as interference signals. When a thinning region in which the interference signals obtained by detecting the interference light in each wavelength sweep are thinned so that the interference signals that are used to produce the tomographic image remain is set, thinning is performed on the plurality of interference signals in the thinning region. Light intensity information about the measurement target in the thinning region is obtained, based on the interference signals for the respective wavelength sweeps, the interference signals remaining after thinning. The tomographic image in the thinning region is produced based on the obtained light intensity information.
