摘要： A friction clutch assembly with a clutch release bearing for use with automotive vehicles. The friction clutch is provided with a disc-shaped spring release member having a central bore. The clutch release bearing is formed as a conventional anti-friction bearing having an outer race ring extending through the central bore of the release spring. One end of the outer race ring is formed with an annular flange extending substantially radially outward to contact the exterior frontal face of the spring release member. An angularly-shaped retaining ring is fixed to the portion of the outer race ring extending through the bore and is formed with an axially extending shank wall terminating in a peripheral edge which presses against the opposite interior frontal face of the spring release member.

The shoulder is provided with several tabs, or tangs, uniformly distributed about its free end and which extend through the slots between adjacent pairs of the spring release arms.

The cage has a slit extending axially and radially therethrough, and the cage portion aligned with the slit is radially moveable, so that an entire row of rolling bodies adjacent said slit may be radially moved into a race formed in a shaft in the bearing. The sleeve may have a second slit spaced from the first slit. The second slit may be only partial, to define a region of bending, or may extend completely through the outer sleeve to define a segment, with the first slit, that is radially moveable.

An outer sleeve surrounds the central portion of the bearing and defines races for balls in the endless paths. End rings on the axial ends of the bearing radially outwardly cover the semicircular quideway portions. The semicircular guideway portions have outwardly convex bottoms, and the end rings have concave recesses in their inner surfaces aligned with the semicircular guideways. The convex portions of the guideways and the concave portions of the recesses have common centers of curvature extending parallel to the bearing axis and displaced outwardly therefrom.

摘要： In a clutch release bearing assembly for a motor vehicle, the outer ring of a clutch thrust bearing has a flange engaging a radially extending flange of a housing part affixed to a sliding sleeve. This engagement permits play. An elastic ring is held fixed with respect to the outer bearing ring, and has projections extending axially from its internal circumference to engage circular surfaces of recesses of the housing. The circular surfaces of the recesses are joined by straight sections on the housing, whereby the tendency of the sliding sleeve to rotate with respect to the bearing ring effects the radial bending of the tongues, to damp such movement.
