    • A correction value determining method of the present invention includes: causing a head to record a first pattern for confirming a transport amount of a medium, while transporting the medium in a transport direction relative to the head in accordance with a target transport amount; obtaining a first correction value that is associated with a relative position of the head and the medium based on the first pattern, the first correction value being a correction value for correcting the target transport amount during transport of the medium; causing the head to record a second pattern for confirming the transport amount of the medium, by transporting the medium while correcting the target transport amount using the first correction value associated with the relative position; obtaining a second correction value that is associated with the relative position of the head and the medium based on the second pattern, the second correction value being a correction value for correcting the target transport amount during transport of the medium; and determining a correction value of the target transport amount by making a use of the first correction value and the second correction value associated with the relative position when the medium ceases to be secured by a roller provided on an upstream side of the head in the transport direction different from a use of the first correction value and the second correction value associated with the relative position at times other than when the medium ceases to be secured by the roller.

    • Quality of a printed image is improved while minimizing the amount of memory used. For example, a print-control method includes: a first print-control step of repeatedly performing a unit image formation operation of forming a unit image in a unit area on a medium by ejecting ink from nozzles arranged in a predetermined direction and moved in a movement direction, and a first carrying operation of carrying the medium by a predetermined carry amount, to print an image in an end portion, in a carrying direction, of the medium; and a second print-control step of repeatedly performing the unit image formation operation and a second carrying operation of carrying the medium by another predetermined carry amount, to print an image in an intermediate portion, in the carrying direction, of the medium. Darkness of each of the unit images within a mixed range, in which unit images printed in the first print-control step and unit images printed in the second print-control step are mixed, is corrected based on a correction value used in the second print-control step.

    • A printing method and printing apparatus by which the quality of printed images can be improved are achieved. The printing method includes: (a) a step of printing a correction pattern on a medium, wherein the correction pattern is constituted by a line group including a plurality of lines arranged in an intersecting direction that intersects a movement direction of nozzles, each of the lines being made of a plurality of dots arranged in the movement direction, and is printed by alternately repeating an operation of ejecting ink from a plurality of the nozzles and an operation of moving the medium in the intersecting direction; (b) a step of setting for each of the lines a correction value for correcting a darkness in the intersecting direction of an image to be printed on the medium, wherein each of the correction values is set based on a darkness of a plurality of lines, in the line group, including the line whose correction value is to be set; and (c) a step of printing the image on the medium based on the correction values that have been set for each of the lines.

    • A printing method includes: printing, on a medium, a correction pattern made of lines, the lines being formed by repeating in alternation a dot forming operation of forming dots on the medium by ejecting ink from nozzles that move in a predetermined movement direction, and a carrying operation of carrying the medium in an intersecting direction that intersects the movement direction; measuring, for each line of the correction pattern, the darkness of pixels located on a same line of the correction pattern; obtaining, for each line of the correction pattern, a correction value for correcting a darkness, in the intersecting direction, of an image to be printed based on the darkness of the pixels that has been measured; setting, for each line of the image, the correction value obtained; and forming, in the dot forming operation, dots of a corresponding line for which the correction value has been set such that the darkness of that line becomes a darkness that has been corrected based on that correction value.
