    • An orthopedic bone bolt and bone plate construct comprising a bone plate member and a series of fasteners. The bone plate member has at least one open portions, with the open portions allowing placement of a series of fasteners therethrough at spaced apart positions along a length of the open portions. The series of fasteners are attachable to the plate member at the open portions, with at least one of the fasteners including a multi-angle fastener having a pair of fastener sections configured to be angled relative to one another. The multi-angle fastener comprising; an upper section having a central longitudinal axis and an outer surface; a lower section having a central longitudinal axis and an outer surface with a threaded portion configured to be surgically implantable into a patient's bone tissue and a joint for connecting the upper and lower sections together. The joint including corresponding mating surfaces configured to articulate with each other sufficiently to allow the upper and lower sections to angle relative to one another.

The plate member has a first and second angled sidewall at the slot with the sidewalls each forming an acute angle with the upper and lower plate surfaces. A washer interfaces with the plate member and the bone screw, for distributing load from the bone screw to the plate member with the washer including an opening and upper and lower surfaces with the lower surface having a pair of spaced apart projections extending therefrom. The plate member having a plurality of adjustment openings with each of the washer projections sized and shaped to fit in selected pairs of the adjustment openings.

    • A side-loading bone anchor is provided, which may be used in cervical, thoracic, lumbar or sacral areas of the spine or other orthopedic locations. In one embodiment, the anchor includes an anchoring portion and a receiving portion. The anchoring portion is attached to a bone, and is connected to the receiving portion. A rod or other elongated support member is received in the receiving portion in contact with a crown member in the receiving portion and above the anchoring portion. The receiving portion, with or without the rod, may be rotated or pivoted with respect to the anchoring portion, and a set screw is threaded into the receiving portion to lock the rod within the receiving portion.

    • A double-jointed bone bolt for use in an apparatus for maintaining vertebra in a desired relationship. The apparatus has a rod that extends substantially along the spine and one or more bone bolts. At least one of the bone bolts is double jointed. The double-jointed bolt has a mounting portion with a hook or coarse threads to engage a vertebra, and the mounting portion is attached to a pivot post in a manner that allows the pivot post to be rotatable about a common axis in respect to the mounting portion. The pivot post of the bone bolt is then pivotally attached to a connector portion of the bone bolt that has machine threads upon which a surgeon may attach a clamp. The clamp has a second bolt and an arm. The second bolt holds the rod and the arm to the clamp. The second bolt has a first channel to attach to the rod, while the arm has a second channel to attach the double-jointed bone bolt.
