摘要： A soft decision value generation circuit capable of reducing amount of calculation and hardware scale for generating a soft decision value. The soft decision value generation circuit includes: a phase rotation unit rotating phases of received symbols after coherent detection; addition units calculating, by using the phase-rotated received symbols, absolute values of soft decision values for soft decision value candidates restricted in advance; minimum value selection units selecting minimum values out of the absolute values of the soft decision values; sign reflection units reflecting, based on the phases of the received symbols after the phase rotation, sign information to the minimum values; and soft decision value correction units multiplying outputs of the sign reflection units by a coefficient depending on a noise variance value and an amplitude value of a modulation symbol.

摘要： A wireless communication system includes a transmission device including plural transmission antennas and a receiving device including plural reception antennas. The transmission device includes a branching unit that branches a signal into plural transmission signals respectively passing plural signal lines each corresponding to each of the transmission antennas and delay units provided on at least one of the signal lines to apply a delay to the transmission signal. When a transmission signal branched by the branching unit is applied with a delay by the delay units, the transmission device sets the transmission signal on which the delay is applied as the transmission signal, and transmits the transmission signals to the receiving device via the transmission antennas. The receiving device includes delay units provided on at least one of plural signal lines that respectively pass plural reception signals received at the reception antennas to apply a delay to the reception signal and a combining unit that sets the reception signal on which the delay is applied as the reception signal, and combines the reception signals.

摘要： An optical transmitter includes: a selection circuit; a signal processing circuit; an optical modulator; and a control circuit. The selection circuit selects signal components on the sides of the maximum and minimum values in a multivalued electrical signal for modulation of a transmitting signal. The signal processing circuit generates a multivalued electrical signal into which the transmitting signal is converted by a combination of a superimposed signal that a low-frequency wave is superimposed on the signal components and a signal having a plurality of intermediate amplitude values on which the low-frequency wave is not superimposed. The optical modulator modulates a carrier light on the basis of the multivalued electrical signal. The control circuit controls the reference amplitude value or amplitude of the multivalued electrical signal on the basis of the low-frequency components contained in a modulated optical signal.

摘要： The present invention relates to an optical amplifier and an optical communication system applied to WDM (wavelength division multiplexing). The optical amplifier includes an optical amplifying medium to which WDM signal light obtained by wavelength division multiplexing a plurality of optical signals having different wavelengths is supplied, a pumping unit for pumping the optical amplifying medium such that the medium gives a gain to the WDM signal light, a feedback loop for controlling the pumping unit so that the gain is maintained constant, and an optical attenuator for giving a variable attenuation to the WDM signal light. Through the structure of the present invention, it becomes possible to provide an optical amplifier which can maintain constant the optical output level per channel of WDM and can maintain the gain characteristic constant.

摘要： A device and a method for driving an electro-absorption optical modulator for receiving carrier light emitted from a light source and outputting signal light subjected to intensity modulation according to the absorption of the carrier light. A bias circuit generates a bias voltage determined so that the optical modulator has a given chirping parameter. A driving circuit generates a modulating signal corresponding to an input signal, superimposes the modulating signal on the bias voltage, and supplies the superimposed signal to the optical modulator. A control circuit controls at least one parameter selected from a parameter group including the amplitude and duty of the modulating signal and the power of the carrier light, based on the bias voltage. It can be possible to provide a method of and a device for driving an optical modulator capable of arbitrarily setting a chirping parameter.

摘要： The invention provides a technique for optimizing transmission conditions to achieve large-capacity transmission, and also provides peripheral techniques for the practical implementation of optical multiplexing that makes large-capacity transmission possible. A transmission characteristic is measured in a transmission characteristic measuring section, and control of signal light wavelength in a tunable light source, control of the amount of prechirping, control of the amount of dispersion compensation, and/or control of optical power are performed to achieve the best transmission characteristic. Wavelength dispersion is deliberately introduced by a dispersion compensator, to reduce nonlinear effects. A tunable laser is used to optimize signal light wavelength for each optical amplification repeater section. Peripheral techniques, such as drift compensation, clock extraction, optical signal channel identification, clock phase stabilization, etc., are provided for the implementation of optical multiplexing.

摘要： A control unit for controlling an optically modulating apparatus in an optical transmitter, including plural optical modulators producing an optical output signal consisting of a series of optical pulses for transmitting data under OTDM or WDM, so that pre-chirping magnitudes of the modulators are changed together with drift compensation, for preventing waveform deterioration due to an optical transmission line from occurring. The pre-chirping magnitudes are changed by shifting operating points of modulators only concerning pre-chirping, without affecting other transmitting characteristics of the optical output signal.
