    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is described, which for controlling fuel quantity is provided with control unit that controls an electric final control element, which in turn actuates the regulating member that determines the fuel injection quantity per pump piston supply stroke. The supply of fuel to the pump work chamber is effected from a fuel supply chamber, which is kept at a controlled pressure by a fuel feed pump. To limit the maximum speed of the engine supplied by the fuel injection pump in the event of failure of the control unit, a valve is provided in the intake line of the fuel feed pump. Using this valve, the flow cross section of the intake line can be varied or closed. By means of the modification of the fuel pressure in the fuel supply chamber effected thereby, a control of the fuel injection quantity that is not dependent on the position of the quantity-determining member is attained.

    • In a pressure control valve for a fuel injection pump, which includes a piston displaceable in the cylinder by the pressure fluid admitted in the cylinder and against the force of a restoring spring which biases the piston, the piston is closely guided in the cylinder with an annular gap which can be maintained constant. The piston includes one portion which forms the annular gap with the wall of the cylinder and two lateral guide portions closely guided in the cylinder. The annular gap is in communication with the pressure control chamber and the spring chamber formed in the cylinder. A throttle is formed at the discharge of the spring chamber. The amount of fuel flowing through the annular gap builds up a compensation pressure at the throttle to compensate for the influence of temperature fluctuations in the fluid admitted in the pressure control chamber of the cylinder.

    • An improved rpm regulator for a fuel injection pump associated with an internal combustion engine. The regulator includes a suction chamber, an intermediate lever, a fuel quantity control sleeve connected to the intermediate lever, a regulating spring assembly connected to the intermediate lever, a device including centrifugal weights and a governor sleeve for developing and transmitting an rpm signal through the intermediate lever to the fuel quantity control sleeve in opposition to a force exerted by the regulating spring assembly, a control lever, and an adjustable stop, including a cam member, mounted to the housing for limiting the motion of the intermediate lever. A working chamber is provided between the governor sleeve and an end of a guide shaft forming part of the device for transmitting an rpm signal. Openings are provided in the governor sleeve which communicate with the suction chamber for effecting a damping of oscillations of the governor sleeve during predetermined load conditions.

    • A fuel injection pump has a pump plunger (13), which is driven by a drive shaft (15) via a cam gear (14) at least in an axial stroke movement and in so doing generates a fuel injection pressure in a pump work space (16), and a magnet valve (30) blocking or releasing the pump work space (16) relative to a relief duct (26). The start of delivery of the pump plunger is determined by the closing of the relief duct (26) and the end of delivery of the pump plunger (13) is determined by the release of the relief duct (26). To prevent the so-called jumping off of the plunger in the cam gear (14), the magnet valve (30) is controlled after the end of delivery in such a way that a residual pressure lying below the injection pressure is built up in the pump work space (16) until the top dead center point is reached (FIG. 1).

    • A fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engines comprising a pump work chamber defined in a bore of a housing by a pump piston. The pump work chamber is supplied with fuel and relieved via a fuel line containing a magnet control valve. Moreover, the pump work chamber communicates with an injection valve via a supply line. Controlling of the injection is done via the opening or closing of the magnet control valve during the pumping stroke of the pump piston; to that end, the magnet valve is triggered by a control unit. To enable performing an accurate injection, a needle stroke transducer is disposed on the nozzle needle of the injection valve; if a limit value is exceeded, its stroke motion is detected as a precise signal for the onset and end and hence the size of the injection quantity and is transmitted to the control unit, where this actual value is compared with a set-point value from a performance graph, and a correction of the magnet valve triggering is consequently done performed, if needed.
