    • An ambiguous usage of a name in a statement of a computer program is resolved at least partially by adding to an entry statement thereof a definition that includes the ambiguously used name followed by constructing a definition-use graph, followed by checking whether or not an edge from the added definition reaches the statement containing the ambiguously used name. If all edges into the ambiguous statement are from the added definition, then the name is deemed to be a function call. If all edges into the ambiguous statement are not from the added definition, then the name is deemed to be a memory access. If some edges into the ambiguous statement are from the added definition but other edges are not, then the statement is flagged as a dual usage.

    • System for controlling an electric assisted turbocharger comprise an electric motor disposed within turbocharger, and an electric motor controller electrically coupled thereto for purposes of controlling the same. A memory is electrically coupled to the electric motor controller and is configured with a condition map that correlates electric motor instructions with engine and turbocharger conditions. The system includes sensors that are electrically coupled to the electric motor controller, and that are configured to sense conditions of at least one of the turbocharger and the internal combustion engine that is coupled thereto. The electric motor controller is configured to control the electric motor based upon the input received from the plurality of sensors as compared to the data contained multi-dimensional condition map. The system provides electric motor speed control, boost pressure control dampening, and can be used to produce electricity from the electric motor depending on the particular operating condition.

    • A standing wave linear accelerator has a plurality of resonant cavities located along a particle beam axis. One or more pairs of resonant cavities are electromagnetically coupled via a coupling cavity. A rotationally asymmetric element within the coupling cavity is adapted to rotate about an axis that is substantially parallel to the axis of the coupling cavity. The coupling cavity is imperfectly symmetric about its axis due to a relative excess of material disposed within the cavity in the portion opposed to the apertures. Rotation of the polarization of a TE111 mode inside the cylindrical cavity provided a simple single mechanical control of coupling value, that has negligible effect on the phase shift across the device. A slight frequency dependence on the angle of rotation is correctable by a relative excess of material located opposite the apertures between the coupling cavity and the accelerating cavities.

    • A holder for carrying beverage containers and the like includes a bracket for releasably mounting the holder on a support and having a generally C-shaped clamp bracket portion and a generally U-shaped swing bracket portion depending from the clamp bracket portion, an adjustable clamping screw associated with the clamp bracket portion, a carrier for the container, and means for pivotally mounting the carrier to the swing bracket portion so that carrier may swing freely below the support. The clamp bracket portion permits the support to be inserted or removed from the clamp opening and defines a tapered support receiving area opposite the clamping screw so that the screw can releasably secure the support in the receiving area. The swing bracket portion includes a pair of spaced, downwardly extending arms between which the carrier is pivotally mounted.

    • A payload can be transferred between two relatively movable stations for example two ships using a winch system having an inhaul winch and an outhaul winch. The barrel of the outhaul winch is driven by an outhaul motor through a torque convertor such that the outhaul winch provides pull on the trolley 16 regardless of the sense of rotation of the outhaul winch barrel. A control system is used to control the speed of the inhaul winch barrel either to retrieve cable or to pay out cable. Thus, the speed of the trolley 16 is controlled by the speed at which the inhaul winch barrel is driven. The outhaul winch either can be at the same station as the inhaul winch or can be at the opposite station to the inhaul winch.
