Each pulse multiplier switch comprises a generally circular magnetic domain wire with a nucleation coil at one end, a pickup coil with separate angularly spaced coils and a settable rotor with a permanent magnet establishing the number of pulses generated by the pickup coil upon each operation of the nucleation coil.

After the register is reset the printer may be manually operated through a first phase of operation to provide an initial printout whereupon the register reset mechanism is locked to prevent resetting the register again until after the printer is manually operated through a second phase of operation to provide a final printout of the fuel delivery. A printer ticket tray is reciprocated in conjunction with the operation of the printer and a reciprocable slide is connected to latch the register reset mechanism when the ticket tray and slide are actuated to a forward position by the printer operating handle during its first phase of operation. The slide is releasably latched in its forward position and the slide latch is released by a printer platen as it moves to provide the final printout to provide for spring retraction of the slide for unlocking the register reset mechanism.

The position of the rotor drum is governed by a stator having poles projecting inwardly from an annular core. Windings on the poles are arranged to permit the stator to establish any one of a number of differently oriented magnetic fields. The rotor has a permanent magnet which rotates about an axis at the geometric center of the annular core to align itself with the stator''s magnetic field. The poles of the stator are arranged on the annular core in pairs which are not diametrically opposed but are aligned to cause the vector representing the stator''s field to be parallel to and offset from the aligned position taken by the permanent magnet.

The end supports of the frame are contoured to permit access to the tubular connector 360* thereabout and along its full length to provide for winding the coil about the tubular connector by treating the entire frame as a bobbin in conventional coil winding apparatus, and the remaining parts of the counting mechanism are assembled on the frame after the bobbin is wound.
