    • A switching mechanism for a timepiece comprising a base plate having first and second bores extending therethrough and intersecting, a circuit board having a surface opposite the second bore and having stationary contacts mounted on the surface opposite the second bore, and a contact member disposed within the second bore and dimensioned to slide therein. The contact member has a transverse bore extending therethrough and alignable with the first bore through the base plate, and the contact member has a conductive lower end portion extending from the base plate and terminating at a contact surface for contacting to electrically connect the stationary contacts on the circuit board. A spring biases the contact member downwardly to a lowered position with the contact surface contacting the stationary contacts on the surface board. A timepiece adjusting stem has an end portion dimensioned for insertion into the first bore and into the traverse bore for maintaining the contact member at a raised position with the contact surface thereof raised from the stationary contacts, and the adjusting stem is slideably mounted in a position aligned with the second bore for permitting the adjusting stem to travel in an axial direction thereof between a retracted position with the stem clear of the transverse bore of the contact member and an operative position with the stem inserted into the first bore of the base plate and into the transverse bore of the contact member to maintain the contact member in a raised position. The transverse bore has a tapered converging portion converging in an inward direction of the contact member so that the end portion of the stem bears against the tapered portion as the stem travels from the retracted to the operative position thereby causing the contact member to rise as the tapered portion of the transverse bore climbs the end portion of the stem traveling inwardly of the contact member until the stem extends into the transverse bore to maintain the contact member in a raised position.

    • A time adjusting system for an electronic timepiece has a discriminating circuit for discriminating between an advanced signal appearing during the first 30 seconds of a minute and a delayed signal appearing during the latter 30 seconds of the minute. In the advanced state, the supply of 1 HZ pulses to the time-measuring device is temporarily stopped for a time equivalent to the duration of the advanced time thereby delaying the time. In the delayed state, time adjusting pulses higher in frequency than the 1 HZ pulses are supplied to the time-measuring device in a number equal to the duration of the delayed time thereby advancing the time.

    • In an electronic timepiece including a driving circuit for developing display driving signals, and a time display receptive of the display driving signals for displaying time, a battery voltage level monitor. The battery voltage level monitor comprises a voltage detector operative to detect the voltage of a battery which powers the timepiece, and to develop a detector signal when the battery voltage is less than a certain value. The driving circuit includes a display signal control circuit which is responsive to the setting of a display restoring switch and the detector signal for interrupting the display driving signals applied to the display in response to the detector signal, in order to de-energize the display to indicate that the battery voltage is below the certain level. The display signal control circuit is operable to apply the display driving signals to the display under control of the display restoring switch even in the presence of the detector signals thereby to enable the display of time after a low battery voltage condition has been detected.

The cylinder is fixedly mounted on the head and includes a housing having a mjaor length dimension parallel to the transfer arm length dimension and extending from the head approximately a same length which the linear transfer arm extends from the head. The piston includes a piston rod connected to the linear transfer arm for driving the same when the piston is displaced within the cylinder. A bracket is fixedly secured to an end portion of the linear transfer arm and carries a pair of rollers disposed opposite each other above and below the cylinder and contacting the cylinder. The pair of rollers are mounted for rotation and rotate as the linear transfer arm is displaced along the major length dimension thereof and as the rollers travel along the length of the cylinder in contact therewith. The bracket and rollers engage the cylinder and prevent rotation of the linear transfer arm about its major length dimension.

    • An electronic timepiece powered during use by a cell comprises an oscillating circuit for generating a high frequency output signal and a multi-stage divider circuit for receiving the high frequency output signal and dividing it at successive stages to lower frequency output signals and providing at its last stage standard pulses suitable as a time standard. A first gate circuit receives the divided signals and gates therethrough higher frequency pulses than that of the standard pulses. A control pulse generating circuit generates a given number of control pulses having a predetermined pulse width in successive predetermined periods, and a second gate circuit receives at its input both the higher frequency pulses and the control pulses and gates therethrough a number of higher frequency pulses corresponding in number to the predetermined period within the duration of the predetermined pulse width. A timing device responds to pulses applied thereto for indicating time, and a voltage detecting circuit detects the cell output voltage and provides one signal when the cell voltage is above a predetermined voltage level and another signal when the cell voltage drops below this level. A third gate circuit connected to the voltage detecting circuit responds to the one signal and gates the standard pulses to the timing device and responds to the other signal and gates the higher frequency pulses to the timing device. The timing device indicates the time in the normal manner in response to the standard pulses and in a periodic abnormal manner in response to the higher frequency pulses thereby signifying to the user that the cell is near exhaustion and needs replacement.

    • A tuning device for musical instruments or voices comprises a visual stroboscopic displaying means which displays a light flow at a speed proportional to the difference of a tone to be tuned from the signal of the corresponding standard pitch. A standard pitch in a predetermined octave is synthesized from pulses generated by a high frequency oscillator the standard pitch and is divided into a pitch in a predetermined lower octave for comparing the tone to be tuned in the stroboscopic displaying means. The tone to be tuned is also divided into a signal of a pitch in the lower octave and it is transmitted to the stroboscopic displaying means. The stroboscopic display means compares the signal to be tuned with the standard signal, making a light-flow display by overlapping both the signals. The pitch and octave of the tone to be tuned is previously set on the device with a manual selector switch.
