The method includes the steps of selecting a set of game symbols, assigning a probability of occurrence to each symbol, selecting a plurality of outcome templates, each template comprising X variables, selecting a probability of occurrence for each outcome template, assigning a subset of symbols from the set of game symbols to each template for defining the variables, defining payouts for selected outcomes, and configuring a reel-slot gaming device having X reels, which randomly selects a template, randomlu selects a symbol for each position in the template from the subset of game symbols assigned to the selected template, randomly fills at least a portion of the positions in the template and displays the outcome. A gaming device configured to randomly generate game outcomes is also disclosed.

    • A swing training apparatus for sensing centrifugal force created from a swing of a handheld sport implement and producing a signal for a predetermined level of centrifugal force. The apparatus comprises a housing holding a battery affixed to a sliding member that is slidably positioned within the housing. An adjustable force signal mechanism is electrically connected to the battery. A spring holds the sliding member and battery in a signal nonactuating position within said housing until sufficient centrifugal force, created by the swinging sport implement, slides the sliding member within the housing into a signal actuating position, thereby actuating said signal mechanism to produce a signal.

    • An improved combination hand weight and expandable baton is provided. The baton is adjustable for length and weight. The baton includes a handle section which is preferably a hollow cylindrical tube and at least one telescoping section capable of being contained within the handle section. The baton is provided with a removable end cap which has a tapered inner surface that captures a flared end portion of the interior telescoping section to provide a tight taper joint when the baton is in an expanded position. By providing different end caps, any number of intermediate telescoping sections may be placed within the handle section to vary both the weight and the expandable length of the baton.

    • A baton useable by a drum major or by any other user capable of twirling the baton and in doing so varying its overall length the baton including an open-ended main tube that can be grasped by the user, the tube being divided by an internal transverse beam into opposing half sections. Telescoped into each half section through the open end thereof is a cylindrical rod having secured to its outer end a weighted ball. The inner end of each rod is connected by an elastic band to the beam whereby in the static state of the baton the balls are equidistant from the beam and the baton has a predetermined overall length. When a user twirls the baton, the resultant centrifugal forces acting on the balls causes the rods to advance outwardly to lengthen the baton to an extent that depends on the twirling velocity. A diminishing action causes the rods to retract into the half sections of the tube to shorten the baton. When the baton is used as a shaft and is hurled toward the ground so that an end ball strikes the ground, the shaft then rebounds toward the hurler.

    • A baseball bat is provided which is sized and configured to conform to official baseball bat regulations and standards for use of the baseball bat in official baseball games which is connectable in combination with a practice device for use in training. The baseball bat has a knob end disposed at one end of the bat adjacent to a cyclindrically shaped handle portion of the bat. The knob end has a socket hole with internal threads in axial alignment with the bat. The socket hole and internal threads are formed integral with the knob end of the bat so that the bat conforms to official baseball bat regulations and standard when the baseball bat is used without the practice device. The practice device includes a weight structure having a weight sized for positioning in coaxial engagement with the knob end of the baseball bat. The weight structure having a bolt threadingly engageable with the internal threads of the socket hole to secure the practice device in fixed assembly with the knob end of the baseball bat for use in training.

    • A baseball bat training device and method of manufacturing same is provided. The device includes a structure. A bolt having external threads is mounted to the structure for rotation therein. The structure includes a weight sized for positioning in co-axial assembly with a knob of a baseball bat. A pair of annular members are attached to the structure. The annular members extending away from the structure in a crossed pattern with each other and being positioned in engagement with axially facing surface areas of the knob of the baseball bat. The bolt when rotated exerting a pulling force against the pair of annular members engaged against the axially facing surface areas of the knob to hold the baseball batting training device in fixed engagement with the knob of the baseball bat.
