摘要： An expandable baton including a handle tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a channel extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The expandable baton further includes a striking rod dimensioned to slide within the channel and having a retention end. In addition, the expandable baton further includes an end cap attached to the proximal end of the handle tube. The end cap includes a well chamber with a retention magnet that is configured to attract the striking rod. The retention magnet retains the collapsed position by attracting the striking rod. The well chamber also has a collar that is separated from the retention magnet by a determined distance, such that there is a separation between the collar and the retention magnet. The collar is configured to abut the retention end of the striking rod while the expandable baton is in a collapsed position.

The handle is covered by a grip. 摘要： A knock down spring whip assembly including a hollow housing which serves as a handgrip, and also stores a spring subassembly formed of lengths of helically wound springs of sequentially increasingly larger diameter size to move between a telescoped position within the housing and an extended whipping position projecting from one end of the housing with the springs wedgingly engaging each other in an end to end arrangement. A removable closure unit is provided for plugging the other end of the housing to define a storage compartment. The closure unit includes an integral magnet for retaining the spring subassembly in the telescoped position, where the closure unit can be replaced with other types of closure units. The housing includes a tapered end and an annular constriction for providing both a wedging engagement of the projecting springs as well as a positive locking action. Weighted ball bearings can be included within one of the springs for spiral rotation therethrough to provide an additional striking force. The striking spring can be replaced by a solid rod for an increased striking force. Preferably, the tip portion at the striking end is also removable to permit the spring whip assembly to be disassembled into its component parts.

摘要： A self defense baton comprises a handle portion which includes a central portion and a housing member connected to one end of the central portion. A flashlight portion is connected to the other end of the central portion. At least one telescoping member is slidably disposed within the housing member. The telescoping member is spring loaded and retained within the housing member by a releasable latch. A ring is rotatably attached to the handle portion. To use, the handle portion is grasped with a finger of the grasping hand being inserted through the ring. The releasable latch is activated by the thumb of the grasping hand. A spring, disposed within the housing member, causes the telescoping member to slide out of the housing member thereby expanding the baton. The rotatably attached ring enables rapid manipulation of the baton without risking accidental loss of the baton during these manipulations. The ring may also double as a key ring without loss of maneuverability of the baton.
