The system and method allow a controller, such as an ISP, to benefit from unresolved IP Address requests and keyword and hotword queries by capturing this traffic and directing it to participating partners who provide content relevant and/or geographically relevant results. The system and method can decrease lost traffic, irrelevant keyword and hotword search results, and irrelevant redirection by web browsers resident on user's personal computers.

A spoofing protocol compensates for the long propagation delays inherent to satellite communication.

摘要： A voice communication system, which is connected to a LAN to which communication terminals are connected and to a public network to which telephones are connected, is provided with a communication server between the LAN and public network having different protocols from each other. The communication server enables a voice communication between a telephone on the public network and a communication terminal connected to the LAN by performing processing similar to that for a voice communication between two communication terminals connected to the LAN. The communication server determines whether an address of the other party inputted by a user is a communication terminal address or a telephone number, and transmits a voice communication request to a communication terminal of the other party when the address is a communication terminal address. When the address is a telephone number, the user acquires the communication terminal address of the communication server, and transmits a voice communication request to the communication server. Thereafter, the voice communication processing is performed through the communication server.

Each service item is locatable on the network at a corresponding URI and is associated with a particular telephone number. A mapping is provided between telephone numbers and the URIs of associated service resource items. When it is desired to access a service resource item associated with a particular telephone number, this mapping is used to retrieve the corresponding URI which is then used to access the desired service resource item.

摘要： Methods and apparatus detecting attempts to obtain IP addresses by faking a MAC address in a data portion of an IP address request message are described. In accordance with the present invention, rather than use standard address allocation protocols, e.g., ARP, the DNS DCHP contacts the requesting edge router via a private secure network. The MAC address received in the address request is compared to the MAC addresses stored in the edge routers port/MAC address resolution table. If the MAC address received in the request message cannot be found in the edge router's table which was created from the MAC address included in the message's header, a fraudulent attempt to obtain a MAC address is declared. The fraudulent attempt to obtain an IP address can be reported and steps taken to identify the perpetrator of the fraud.

摘要： A host CPU runs a network protocol processing stack that provides instructions not only to process network messages but also to allocate processing of certain network messages to a specialized network communication device, offloading some of the most time consuming protocol processing from the host CPU to the network communication device. By allocating common and time consuming network processes to the device, while retaining the ability to handle less time intensive and more varied processing on the host stack, the network communication device can be relatively simple and cost effective. The host CPU, operating according to instructions from the stack, and the network communication device together determine whether and to what extent a given message is processed by the host CPU or by the network communication device.

摘要： For purposes of servicing emergency calls, such as 911 calls, a telephone number is associated with each edge router port used to provide IP service to a customer premise location. A telephone number is associated with the edge router port and the corresponding customer location. The telephone number and location information are stored in a database used for providing emergency calling party location information. When a switch used for routing IP calls detects a telephone call to an emergency call center it determines the edge router port from which the call was placed and the telephone number associated with the port for emergency call purposes. The call is then forwarded to the emergency call service center with the determined telephone number being supplied as the calling party number. Performing a lookup operation using the supplied telephone number the emergency service operator determines the location from which the call was placed.
