In the case where the charging is performed from the power supply external to the vehicle, the control unit determines whether or not it is necessary to accumulate heat in the battery, and in the case where it is determined that the heat accumulation is necessary, the control unit sets the target temperature of the battery during charging higher than that in the case where it is determined that the heat accumulation is unnecessary.

In an air heating-warming up mode of heating the air for the interior and the air for the battery, a refrigerant discharge capacity of the compressor is controlled such that an air temperature for the interior approaches a target air temperature, and an opening degree of the high-stage side expansion valve is controlled such that a battery temperature becomes within a predetermined reference temperature range. A selector switch allows a passenger to select which operation of air conditioning or warming-up is prioritized.

The temperature adjusting mechanism supplies a heat exchange medium for use in the temperature adjustment of the high-power assembled battery and the high-capacity assembled battery to each of the assembled batteries. The high-power assembled battery is capable of charge and discharge with a current relatively larger than that in the high-capacity assembled battery. The high-capacity assembled battery has an energy capacity relatively larger than that of the high-power assembled battery, has a higher dependence of battery characteristic on temperature than that of the high-power assembled battery, and is placed on a flow path of the heat exchange medium upstream of the high-power assembled battery.

The duct includes a suction portion disposed between a rear seat and a floor panel of a vehicle, an inlet of the suction portion fluidly communicating with an interior of the vehicle to suction interior air. An extension portion is formed by extending an outlet side of the suction portion to a rear of the vehicle, e.g. a trunk, between the rear seat and the floor panel, and defines a passageway configured to allow the interior air to pass therethrough. A discharge portion extends from an outlet of the extension portion to the rear of the vehicle, and discharges the interior air passed through the extension portion, through an outlet of the discharge portion to the battery of the vehicle.
