    • A density corrector performs a density correction processing on a resolution-converted image dataset to obtain a density-corrected image dataset by: determining whether each of first and second pixels in the resolution-converted image dataset is a deletion-target pixel, the first pixels each being a pixel located at a position including a longitudinal edge in a second original image, the second pixels each being a pixel located at a position including a lateral edge in the second original image, patterns of edges in regions in the first and second original images corresponding to the deletion-target pixel being the same; correcting a density of the deletion-target pixel to “0”; and correcting a density of respective pixels other than the deletion-target pixel among the first and second pixels to a value equal to or larger than an original density of the respective pixels.

    • An apparatus includes an image-processing-unit that generates tag information indicating whether each of pixels of a first-resolution image data is a pixel of a character or a line, a resolution-converting-unit that converts the first-resolution image data to image data with a second resolution higher than the first resolution, and a light-source-driving-unit that drives light-source according to the second-resolution image data. The resolution-converting-unit includes an image-matrix-acquiring-unit that acquires an image matrix being image data and tag information with the first resolution in an area containing a target-pixel and pixels around the target-pixel, a pattern-matching-unit that determines whether the target-pixel is a pixel of an edge of a character or a line based on the image matrix, and a first-converting-unit that, when the pixel is the edge pixel, converts the image data to image data with the second resolution of a pattern determined in accordance with a layout of the target-pixel.

    • A system for performing edge enhancement of mixed low resolution image files employs a binarization and sorting unit to sort data that is indicative of binary data from the mixed low resolution image input file. The sorted binary data is then supplied to a binary data edge enhancement processor for edge enhancement processing. The output from the binary data edge enhancement processor unit is supplied to a data merger unit along with the original image data. The data merger unit determines whether the original image data was part of a gray-scale image. If the data merger determines the original data is part of a gray-scale image, the original data is supplied as the output of the processing system. If the data merger determines that the original data is binary image data, the output from the binary edge enhancement processor unit is supplied as the output of the processing system.
