    • An apparatus useful for sharpening blades includes a blade support, a sharpener guide mounted to the blade support, and a sharpener mount. The sharpener guide includes an elongated guide member defining a sharpening axis extending substantially parallel to a blade axis defined by the blade support. The sharpener mount includes a pivot connector coupled to and complementally configured with the elongated guide member for enabling pivotal movement of the sharpener mount about the sharpening axis and translational movement along the elongated guide member. The sharpener mount may be coupled to a rotary grinder having a grinding wheel, such that the sharpener mount and the grinder may pivot to provide a desired sharpening angle on the blade and move the grinder along the blade while the blade remains in place on the blade support.

The present invention comprises a base with a blade fixture which is reversible to accommodate both clockwise and counter-clockwise rotating blades. An adjusting wheel rotatable attached to the handle shaft and pivotably coupled to the disc grinder provide a means for quickly and easily adjusting the cutting angle in order to accommodate sharpening the secondary cutting edges of a mulching style blade and returning the disc grinder back to its original cutting angle.

    • A device and method for sharpening a mower blade are provided, in which a mounting device for mounting a rotary blade having two opposite cutting edges to be sharpened, wherein the mounting device is capable of positioning the blade in a first fixed state and a second, axially pivoting state. One or more grinding head assemblies are each positioned on an opposite end of the blade, wherein the grinding head assemblies respectively grind the two opposite cutting edges to be sharpened. A control system controls movement of the two grinding head assemblies. The mounting device positions the blade in the first fixed state to enable the two grinding head assemblies to grind the cutting edges in a direction substantially parallel to the cutting edges of the blade to perform a straight grind, and then may position the blade in the second axially pivoting state to enable the blade to pivot around its blade rotation axis away from the grinding head assemblies upon completion of the straight grind, thereby forming a curve at the end of each cutting edge. The mounting assembly also holds the blade in a third, freely rotating state in which the blade may substantially freely rotate around its blade rotation axis to enable balancing of the blade after sharpening.

    • A mower blade sharpener apparatus has an automatic reciprocating holder means to sharpen lawn mower blades conveniently with any stationary circular flat-faced grindstone with its driving motor affixed to a common base. A housing frame having open opposing sides contains a blade holder with upper and lower securing clamps and a V-shaped cradle. The housing frame is attached by a screw to a carriage automatically moved back and forth a limited distance on a pair of parallel rods to sharpen the lawn mower blade. The housing frame and carriage are driven by a pneumatic system designed with a reciprocating movement of approximately 4 inches in a cycle duration of approximately a second. An on/off pneumatic valve switch automatically shuts off the pneumatic pressure when a semicylindrical shield which covers the blade portion not being sharpened is rotated back away from the blade.

    • This invention is a sharpening device for lawn edger blades. The device is specifically designed for attachment to the machine and in use for when the machine is in operation.     • A rotary grinder for sharpening mulcher blades. A grinding wheel is rotatably mounted atop a work support surface. A platform removably mounted to the work support surface includes a first upwardly facing blade supporting surface and a second upwardly facing blade support surface. The second blade supporting surface is obliquely arranged relative to the first blade supporting surface. The first blade supporting surface contacts the outer portion of the blade positioning the outer edge against the grinding wheel. The method includes moving the blade in a direction so that the outer edge of the blade moves past the grinding wheel with the blade moving off of the first upwardly facing blade supporting surface and onto the second upwardly facing blade supporting surface thereby positioning the obliquely arranged second cutting edge adjacent and against the grinding wheel. Further movement of the blade moves the second cutting edge past the grinding wheel until the blade is positioned again atop the first upwardly facing blade supporting surface thereby positioning a third cutting edge adjacent the grinding wheel.

    • The present invention relates to a device designed to be detachably attached to the undercarriage of a lawn mower through the use of hooks engageable with the blades of the lawn mower. The device includes an annulus having a plurality of holes therethrough with a coupling designed to be connectable to a water supply hose. Additionally, a pair of diametrically opposed sharpening stones are rotatably mounted on the device and are automatically rotated through the provision of paddlewheels, each of which is rotated through the provision of water sprayed thereon as supply from two supply conduits. When the hose connection is connected to a hose supplying water to the device and the water begins to flow, water sprays out the openings in the annulus to clean the undercarriage of the lawn mower while water spraying out the supply conduits impinges on the paddlewheels causing the grinding stones to rotate to thereby sharpen the lawn mower blades.

    • A rotary grinder is mounted on a flat top bench to have a grinding wheel rotating on a horizontal axis. A blade holder for sharpening lawnmower blades has a slotted face bar pivotally mounted to a forward portion of a horizontal base plate resting on the bench top. A pair of upright legs extend upwardly from a rear portion of the base plate. A lawnmower blade is mounted to the face bar on a bolt extending through the face bar slot and the blade to have one of its cutting edges lying in a horizontal plane coincident with the grinding wheel axis. A blade positioning bar is mounted in the face bar slot and clamped up against the bottom edge of the blade. The angle of the face bar is set and the face bar clamped to the legs. The one cutting edge of the blade is sharpened by sliding the holder on the bench top to move the cutting edge into the grinding wheel. The blade is rotated end for end and reclamped to sharpen the other cutting edge.
