    • A twin clutch device wherein a second clutch is arranged coaxially and radially inside of a first clutch outer which forms an annular plate portion. One clutch inners of both clutches is arranged between a clutch member which constitutes a portion of the outer of the first and second clutches and an annular plate portion. Lifter pins have axes arranged parallel to a rotary axis of first and second clutches and axially movably penetrate both clutch inners to bring one ends thereof into contact with pressure plates. First and second drive control members are capable of applying control forces to disconnect the first and second clutches against spring forces of first and second clutch springs. A second clutch outer is rotated together with the first clutch outer and is arranged coaxially with the first clutch. A pair of clutch outers are connected in a relatively non-rotatable manner with each other.

    • A power transmission device for transmitting power of an internal combustion engine of a motorcycle. By improving the arrangement of a continuously variable transmission, a balancer shaft and a drive pulley and a driven pulley of the continuously variable transmission, a lateral width and longitudinal length of a power unit are decreased thus making the power unit more compact. A continuously variable transmission is arranged behind a crankshaft, and a balancer is arranged between the continuously variable transmission and the crankshaft in a state wherein the balancer does not overlap the continuously variable transmission. A drive force of the crankshaft is transmitted to a drive pulley shaft of the continuously variable transmission by way of a gear of a balancer shaft. The approximate center of the crankshaft, the balancer and the respective pulleys of the continuously variable transmission are arranged on a vertical plane of a vehicle body center line.

    • A motorcycle is provided with a compact, lightweight power unit that allows for increased maneuverability and increased bank angles while turning. The power unit includes an engine and transmission integrated into a single unit. Often, the balance and maneuverability of a motorcycle are influenced by the heaviest components of the vehicle, such as the engine or power unit. The present advantage is accomplished by providing the power unit with a water pump, oil pump and transmission which are balanced on the motorcycle, limiting the weight variations and protrusions from the motorcycle. This results in allowing the motorcycle to achieve greater bank angles for better turning speeds and maneuverability. It desirable to keep the vehicle center of gravity as low as possible in a motorcycle which is likely to lean steeply around corners. The present arrangement provides the vehicle with a lower center of gravity thereby increasing maneuverability.
