    • A multistage amplifier with a low noise figure linearly amplifies an input signal having a level which varies over a wide range. The first stage of the amplifier provides a low noise figure and sufficient power gain to ensure overall low noise performance. An interstage amplifier is protected from saturation by first and second variable attenuators, which are controlled by a level detector. The level detector detects the level of the input or output signal of the interstage amplifier and controls the forward bias current of a diode in each of the variable attenuators. The first variable attenuator functions as a level compressor for signals input to the interstage amplifier having a level higher than a preset level. The second variable attenuator functions as a level expander of the output signal from the interstage amplifier to equalize the signal level compressed by the first variable attenuator. By combining the two variable attenuators, it is possible to provide a multistage amplifier with an extended range of linear operation and which has low noise characteristics.

    • In a process for making a prilled product from a molten substance therefor steam or heated gas is intermittently introduced into the prilling apparatus to clean the apparatus. In one embodiment the molten substance is passed through a filter zone prior to introduction to a nozzle provided with orifices to produce the prilled product and the flow of molten substance through the filter zone is periodically interrupted and steam or heated gas is passed through the filter zone in the direction opposite to the flow of molten substance to clean the filter zone. More than one filter zone can be operated in parallel so that while one filter zone is being cleaned, molten substance is passed through another filter zone to provide for continuous operation of the process.

    • A driving force distribution/transmission device suppresses a shift of lubrication oil when a vehicle makes a turn, smoothly lubricates sliding parts, and improves reliability.The driving force distribution/transmission device 1 includes a gear input rotary member 53 and a gear output rotary member 55 that are interlocked to transmit a driving force through the meshing of a drive pinion gear 91 and a ring gear 93; and a left-right pair of clutch output adjusting mechanisms 57 and 59 coupled with both ends of the gear output rotary member 55, to carry out a driving force output adjustment through the engagement of frictional multiplate clutches 139. A closed and partitioned gear room 56 contains the drive pinion gear 91 and ring gear 93 therein. The main clutches 139 are contained in a left-right pair of closed and partitioned clutch rooms 125, respectively. Lubrication spaces in the three separate rooms, i.e., the gear room 56 and the left-right pair of clutch rooms 125 separately seal gear oil and clutch oil therein.
