摘要： Embodiments of the present invention provide a simplified authentication transaction for reconnecting a storage device to a host apparatus that has completed authentication in the past. According to one embodiment, an authentication log is recorded in the host. Plural units of this log information are recorded in the storage device. At the time of transferring a content decryption key and usage rules between the host and the storage device, the decryption key and usage rules are recorded into the host as a log for the transfer. The used authentication log is recorded into the storage device as RAPDI. If RAPDI indicates the authentication log in the simplified authentication transaction, recovery transaction is permitted. The host device deletes/invalidates or holds the log for the transfer in accordance with non-permission/permission. In the case of permission, the key and usage rules are recovered by using a log for the transfer prior to the simplified authentication transaction.

The digital signal decoder receives M-bit data and generates an N-bit code word from the M-bit data. The number of consecutive bits of 1 in the code word is not larger than a first predetermined number K, and the number of consecutive bits of 0 is not larger than a second predetermined number L. When data is recorded/reproduced by a method such as NRZI (Non-Return to Zero Inverted), or the like, there is a defect in that the number of transitions of data is larger in a code with a high data encoding rate, and the run length of zero is long thereby increasing the data decoding error rate with the recording/reproducing of data. In the digital signal decoder according to the present invention, any code word includes at most 3 consecutive bits of 1, and at most 11 consecutive bits of 0, so that the data decoding error rate can be reduced.

摘要： A spring-actuated electromagnetic brake includes a noise-suppressing device for suppressing a striking noise emitted when an armature is attracted onto a field to release the brake when an electromagnetic coil is excited to magnetize the field. The noise-suppressing device is comprised of a plurality of hemispherical elastic members each disposed in one of recesses formed in one of two opposed surfaces of the field and the armature. When the brake is in the engaged state, a hemispherical surface of each elastic member partially projects from the recess and is in contact with the other of the two opposed surface. When subjected to a compressive force or pressure applied from the armature, the hemispherical elastic member undergoes elastic deformation as a whole and does not produce any locally concentrated elastic deformation. The hemispherical elastic member is highly durable and is able to greatly suppress the striking noise generated when the brake is released.

According to one embodiment, a data storage area of a storage device is provided with an accessible area which can be accessed from the outside of an interface by specifying an address, and a hidden access area which can be accessed from the outside only in a specified case where an authentication condition is satisfied. In the hidden area, a table is recorded in which one entry includes an entry number and a field of a content identifier. An expansion area is provided in each sector of the accessible area, and data output control information and an entry number are recorded. The data output control information indicates information of one of (1) output is allowed only when there is information capable of decrypting the data, and (2) output is allowed without limitation. In the case where data recorded in the accessible area is read by a standard read command, output of content data recorded in the storage device is controlled based on the data output control information recorded in the expansion area.

In one embodiment, an identifier proper to each terminal device is allocated to discriminate each playback equipment. The identifier of a terminal which is allowed to play the content is registered to this license. When the content is played, authentication is performed between the terminal device as a license transfer destination and a memory device as a license transfer source. The identifier of the terminal device itself is transmitted to the memory device as a transfer source at an authenticating time. The memory device collates the identifier sent from the terminal device with an identifier registered to the license. If these identifiers are the same identifier, the memory device transfers the license to the terminal device. In contrast to this, if these identifiers are different identifiers, the memory device stops the transfer of the license.
