    • A vehicular use power distribution apparatus includes a battery mounted in a vehicle; a main control means connected directly to the battery; a first switch means connected to the battery; a power feed line for loads connected to the first switch means and supplying power to loads mounted in the vehicle; a second switch means connected to the battery; a power feed line for control means connected to the second switch means and controlling the loads; and a sub control means connected to the power feed line for control means. In a first state, the main control means sets the first switch means and the second switch means to a connection state so as to supply power from the battery to the power feed line for loads and the power feed line for control means. When there is not change in first and second mode switching signals within a first predetermined time after a change of first mode switching signal, the main control means sets the first switch means to a non-connection state to set a second state where the supply of power to the power feed line for loads is stopped. After a second predetermined time has passed in the second state, the main control means sets the second switch means to a non-connection state to set a third state where the supply of power to the power feed line for loads is stopped.

    • A synchronizing ring 10 having an annular structural part 11 and a frictional layer 12 is manufactured by filling a mold 20 with a material for the structural part or a material for the frictional layer and compacting the material filled in the mold 20, filling the mold with a material for the frictional layer or a material for the structural part and compacting the material filled into the mold to unify the structural part and the frictional layer, and sintering the unified structural part 11 and frictional layer 12 in a sintering furnace. The frictional layer 12 can be combined with the structural part 11 without forcibly mounting the frictional layer 12 on the structural part 11. The material for the frictional layer need not be presintered, and the frictional layer can be formed by a single sintering cycle.

    • A friction material for a synchronizer ring which exhibits good heat resistance, wear resistance and scorching resistance properties has 30 to 70% by weight of a carbon material, 10 to 40% by weight of a thermosetting resin, 5 to 30% by weight of metal fibers or metal particles and 5 to 40% by weight of inorganic fibers or inorganic particles, and having a porosity of 10 to 50%. The carbon is porous graphite particles of a size distribution in which not less than 50% of the entire number of said graphite particles have a particle diameter from 44 to 250 .mu.m. The thermosetting resin is a novolac type phenol resin, epoxy modified phenol resin, melamine modified phenol resin, cashew modified phenol resin, hydrocarbon resin modified phenol resin or cresol modified phenol resin. The metal fibers or metal particles are an alloy containing aluminum, copper, iron, nickel, zinc or lead as the main ingredient, the inorganic fibers or particles are barium sulfate, wollastonite, silicon, potassium titanate, glass or alumina and organic fibers and cashew dust are each contained in an amount of not more than 10% by weight.

Three kinds of different transmission characteristics are obtained in the above mentioned cases and case of current cutoff, and the positions of the first and second spools 61, 62 do not vary in the respective cases. Thereby, positional variation caused at, spools are prevented and the respective transmission characteristics are stabilized.
