    • A method for processing an imagewise exposed color photographic material using fast developing time while maintaining stable processing conditions, reduced developer replenishing, and light fastness of developed color images. The method comprises developing a color photographic material containing silver halide grains comprising (i) substantially no silver iodide and (ii) at least about 80 mol % silver chloride with a developer comprising (i) substantially no benzyl alcohol and (ii) a p-phenylenediamine derivative represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 represents a straight chain or branched alkylene group having 3 or 4 carbon atoms and wherein the developing is for a period of time of less than 30 seconds.

    • A method for processing a silver halide color photographic material comprising a reflective support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a color coupler or color couplers, which comprises the step of, after imagewise exposing, developing said silver halide color photographic material with a color developing solution which does not substantially contain benzyl alcohol and which contains an aromatic primary amine color developing agent represented by formula (A): ##STR1## wherein X represents a compound capable of forming a salt with a primary amine; and a compound represented by formula (I): ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy or amino group; and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group; or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be bonded to each other to form a carbon ring or a hetero-ring.The color developing solution used in the present method has improved stability and color forming properties.

    • A silver halide photographic material comprises at least one light-sensitive emulsion layer containing a silver halide emulsion on a support. The light-sensitive emulsion layer comprises (a) a silver halide emulsion containing silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 90 mol % or more, in some cases 95 mol % or more, and (b) at least one compound represented by formula (I), (II) or (III): ##STR1## in which the variables are as defined in the specification. In some embodiments of the invention, the silver halide emulsion (a) may be sensitized with a selenium, gold or iridium compound. Also, in some embodiments of the invention, the silver halide grains are substantially iodide-free and have a localized phase with a silver bromide content of 10% or more in the vicinity of the grain surface.
