摘要： The present invention is directed towards a multi-layered core golf ball that comprises a center, a cover and a thin laminate comprising of at least one core layer formed around the center to create an inner ball, wherein the laminate includes at least one outer core layer that is relatively stiff and hard relative to the center, at least one outermost core layer that is heavily filled with a density increasing material and at least one core layer that functions as a moisture vapor barrier. One core layer may serve to provide all the functions in a single layer.

摘要： A dual core golf ball and methods for preparing portions thereof including a core having at least one core layer, a mantle having at least one layer including an amount of reinforcing polymer component and a resilient polymer component disposed concentrically adjacent the core, and a cover layer disposed concentrically adjacent the mantle, wherein the at least one mantle layer is sufficiently rigid to inhibit the resilient polymer component from substantially altering shape prior to crosslinking. The invention also includes an elastomeric composition for the mantle that includes a resilient polymer component having a predominantly 1,4-cis content, a free-radical initiator, and a reinforcing polymer component having a sufficiently low viscosity at a mixing temperature to permit substantially uniform dispersion of the polymer component with the resilient polymer component and having a crystalline melting point sufficiently low to permit mixing while avoiding substantial crosslinking.

摘要： A method of molding a layer of a thermoset or thermoplastic material around a golf ball component within a mold, in which the component is positioned within a mold cavity defined by opposing mold portions of the mold, to leave a cavity space between the component and the mold portions. A reaction mixture comprising at least two reactants is injected under a hydraulic pressure into the cavity space. The pressurized reaction mixture pushes the mold portions apart from each other to a partially open position with an opening therebetween. The reaction mixture is allowed to react partially within the cavity space, and then the mold portions are compressed toward each other to the closed position. The reaction mixture further reacts to form the layer of the thermoset or thermoplastic material immediately about the component.

In particular, the golf balls of the present invention comprise a cover, a core and optionally one or more intermediate layers disposed between the cover and the core, wherein the outer surface of the core, an intermediate layer(s) or both the core and the intermediate layers has a finely textured surface profile integrally molded in the outer surface thereof. The finely textured surface profile comprises a plurality of peaks having a maximum depth of about 2 mils to about 15 mils.

The finely textured surface profile comprises a plurality of peaks having a plurality of heights with a maximum of said heights being between the range of about 2 mils to about 15 mils.

摘要： A golf ball and a method of making a golf ball that includes a center formed from a material including polybutadiene and having a high resilience, at least one cover layer formed of a material including polyurethane, and at least one wound layer of a tensioned material windings between the center and the cover. The polyurethane composition is formed from the reaction product of at least a prepolymer of a polyisocyanate and a polyol, and a diamine curing agent. The polybutadiene composition includes a butadiene polymer with a resilience index greater than about 40 and a weight average molecular weight greater than about 200,000. Such golf balls can have a coefficient of restitution that is optimized for low swing speed players. The wound layer of the present invention may be applied to golf balls having liquid or solid centers to achieve desired golf ball characteristics.
